Inspired by "Corto Maltese" comics, (a sailor-adventurer).

I haven't heard of the comic, but looks cool! From this view, he reminds a bit of Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop :D

They seem to have a few things in common:
they smoke, they have black hair, they have a sort of untidy look,
and they have bad boys look! ;-)

His rank insignia on collar looks familiar... Similar were worn by Royal Navy Midshipmen.

Corto Maltese does not belong to the Navy.

His apparel is made of bits of odd,
"borrowed" from here and there.

He is a rogue, an underdog wandering on the seven seas.
he is a son of a prostitute from Gibraltar and a sailor from Cornwall.

As you can imagine, Corto Maltese is not really my kind of hero.
However I like the drawing style of these comics. :-)
