Hmm... I like the color in this version, but I like the lineart in the other.

If you like the original lineart, there's a way to keep it if you do it in PhotoShop. First, you open the original pencil sketch, then you adjust the levels so that the lines are darker and the light part of the picture is white. Next, you use the background eraser over the whole picture (this keeps the lines but erases the white areas). Next, you make a new layer, and put it under the lineart. Then all you'd have to do is stay between the lines, and you don't have to worry about erasing the lineart or anything.
(and if you don't have PhotoShop, this probably won't work... if you do but don't know how to do these things (but would like to know), then I'd have to tell you in more detail...)
