Shmups fanart: Gaiares

My 5th shmups fanart is from Gaiares for the megadrive/genesis by...err...well I forgot the company. The story for Gaiares is more in-depth than the previous shmups. It involves earth now a giant sphere of waste and toxic and terrorist group Gulfer, lead by ZZ Badnasty (the woman with the eye patch), wishes to collect everything to make weapons. The Unite Star Cluster sent a warning to earth that in order to kill of Gulfer, they'll have to blow up the sun unless someone could stop her evil forces. They sent Dan Dare (the guy in the pic) as earth's last defense. He is to pilot the Gaiares (I belive that's the name of the ship) along with the help of his friend Alexis(the girl with the blue hair) who controls the TOZ, a special weapon-obsorving orb.

Will Dan be able to save the earth before they blow up the sun?
