eh..another older piece from last year. Someone asked me to draw James Marsters (I think he plays "Spike" on BTVS??) I'm an X-Files gal myself *g* Anyway, done in graphite pencils 2b thru 6b on heavy weight medium texture paper. Scanner really has a tough time with textures. Oh well..

Did you use a grid to work of?

gah...I know this response is really late...I wasn't receiving notifications for awhile. Anyway, I did not use a grid on this portrait but I do use grids for weird face angles and full body portraits. I teach an art class for young people and I always teach the grid method to help them along. It's a great drawing tool! Cheers!

I'm sorry I haven't been around lately. I've had alot of health issues but I wanted to thank everyone for their very nice, generous & sweet comments! I love it! Spike is my favourite character, but Giles is right next to him. If you ever have the time, you just HAVE to draw Giles, there isn't one picture if him on fanart yet!

This is REALLY good! I love how you did the eyes. And thank GOD you know how to draw noses. I hate it when people just draw a nose instead of doing the shading around it to make it pop up. You did a GREAT job on this cheek bones and nice texture in the hair!
