I will admit this World Building Wednesday ask was a real challenge for me. I had to develop so much about Aiesha’s world just to cover this topic. I also discovered quickly that I cannot organize my notes. I also drew art XD

The Kudahru funeral ceremonies are very short. Its more like a moment of silence for the deceased. They actually will still dress for the occasion and wear funeral robes and are placed right over their current attire. It is important to note that what they do with the remains after the ceremony has changed over time. Before their home planet was destroyed, Kudahru bury their deceased in the soil. There is a large significance with burial for them. They believe in a heaven and hell in their religion, but unlike our association with up and down. Kudahru perspective is that the ground below them is heaven and the sky (space) is hell. By burying their loved ones they are physically placing them into heaven.
On Horizon Kudahru burial customs were forced to evolve. They see ejecting any remains out of Horizon as being extremely disrespectful and is reserved for the worst criminals. After the short funeral ceremony the deceased is prepped to be cremated by exposing the remains to the “Soul of Horizon” .
