This might be a bit too big for FAC...
A somewhat long-overdue request from my friend Legendbourne (http://legendbourne.deviantart.com/). Well, one of a few that may appear in his Rhendarc series. This is the Karu-Lim Grunt, an armoured ninja. Legendbourne wanted an undead/demon design to the Grunt's armour and mask, so of course the first thing that popped into my head was Japanese culture.
I reckoned that the Grunt couldn't wear too much armour, otherwise he wouldn't be able to be as acrobatic as a ninja should be. Plus, it would be really crap if he were sneaking up on a target only to be given away by a sudden 'CLANK!'
The last sketch was supposed to be the generic fold-arms-and-look-menacing pose, but now that I look at it, the Grunt looks as if he's just cold.

Nah nah, this ain't a meme. This is more like a sketchdump. I was half considering drawing the Grunt slicing off Naruto's head with a katana as a joke, but that may not go down well with the fans...You're right about the colour scheme, it has to be dull. After all, ninjas are all about stealth. Imagine trying to be stealthy in a bright orange jumpsuit!

Wow. You really put a lot of thought into this. :OThe anatomy is wonderful, as is every piece of armor you've drawn. He reminds me somewhat of an Elder Scrolls character. (Wow, they really should have put armor like this into one of the games...)
His gauntlets remind me of Batman. :D

Funny you should mention the Elderscrolls, because I did look at images of Daedra armour for inspiration!Thanks for commenting :)

I would prefer to stay away from too much red and black. I've already got one Darth Maul lookalike in my gallery as it is!I've still got a couple of issues with the armour around the waist and thighs. They do look too much like the Saiyan armour from Dragonball Z, so I'm going to try and revise that a little. I'm just waiting for Legendbourne to tell me what he thinks of it, instead of the 'OMG!' comment he first left :D

Oh yes, there will definitely be a coloured version to this, but again I'm waiting for a response before I go ahead. He usually does give me good critique after the initial euphoria!In any case, I think the colours will be dark and dull. A brightly coloured ninja just doesn't work (so how Naruto survives is beyond me).
