A couple of sketches of Gene the Hackman from the 2000AD story, Kingdom.

I've been feeling somewhat down recently because of my lack of success in my job search, and I just hadn't been inspired to draw anything. I'm trying to get myself back into a routine, starting off with a bit of copy work for fun.

I actually drew these on a big scrap of wallpaper that I had been using to help me with a bit of perspective work. The one on the left is from the Call of the Wild story arc, and was inked with pen. The ink went a bit spidery as I worked, though. The one on the right is from the Promised Land story arc, and is just pencil cleaned up in Photoshop.

Gene is (c) of Dan Abnett and Richard Elson

RosendahlThese are some nice works of perspective. I enjoy personally to draw the body of a very muscular man, and it looks fantastic when drawn by someone who understands the anatomy.

There's not much bad I can say about it, as the perspective work, as it far surpasses my own skill in posing. Also the blue line tattoos are a great way to create depth in the body, when you don't add the large shadow and highlight work.

Very nice!

TrissThank you! Those blue lines are actually scars and seams rather than tatoos (according to the comics, anyway). Dog soldiers like Gene were somewhat hastily created, you see. Also, he looks a lot bulkier in the comics. I unintentionally drew him a bit smaller :P

RosendahlEveryone with their style of course.

Scars, you say? It was that entire work-together with the eyes that I thought these could not be scars. Perhaps it covers up from of them, then decided to make it look fancy. Yes!

TrissHaven't heard from you in a while :) Been busy over the Christmas period?

I really only just copied these from the comic, they're not original poses :\ But thanks lots for your comment :) I'm trying to draw more myself rather than sit in my room and baww 'I has no job!'
