Bow down.
Ta ha. :D Who'd have thought Hyde would make such a great Jesus?
Alright, alright, in all seriousness. This was an assignment for my painting class, and the object was to create a Renaissance style portrait with a modern subject. I thought Hyde would look lovely in the garb, so I chose him as my subject. Honestly, I didn't really realize I was making him into Jesus until someone pointed it out to me. I thought I was just making him into a Saint. But this is even better!
Before I get any nasty comments; this isn't meant to be cruel or blasphemous in any way. I'm not Christian, but this is just meant to be art. Just Hyde looking Saintly. I'm not saying Hyde IS Jesus or is BETTER than Jesus or anything. So before you start spouting any self-rightous religious crap, just keep in mind that this is MY PAINTING and MY OPINION. It's just art. Freedom of speech and all that.
I am quite proud of this though. Lots of experimentation and whatnot, and this is probably my best painting ever. Maybe my best Hyde portrait too. Opinions welcome.
I apologize for the funny ripples; unfortunately the scanner captured the texture of the paint and board. :(

But when I made the painting, I was surrounded by people (my classmates) who with the exception of two people didn't have the slightest clue who Hyde was. Online of course, the painting tends to give a different light, but you gleaned from it it's original purpose and intention. I am very glad to hear it. :)
I'd like to do some more paintings like this, either with rock stars as Jesus' disciples, or other patron saints. Either way, I get to shake the establishment a little, and make a pretty penny from the fangirls. ^_~

I go to a private art school, so I didn't really fear any wrath, though I expected at least some sort of objection at some point. Inevitable I figured. It actually hasn't been to bad anyway. Nothing compared to that photo manip of Dubya made out of monkeys.
I'm very glad you like and understand it. It's moments like this that make wading through the muck of the internet worth it. :)

The painting looks fantastic, the concept is brilliant, you are a genius my friend. I love the way you paint, you make the colors blend in gorgeously. His expression is great, he does resemble all those holy men and women that we often see in portraits. I love this pic and your talent! I am adding you to my faves as well as the pic! *faves you and pic*
