From my interpretation of the little they have addressed this portion of the story: Wolfwood kills Chapel. Knives is angered and demands that Wolfwood become Chapel. Wolfwood refuses, so Knives, Legato, and Elendria destroy his orphanage. Thus, Wolfwood surrenders and becomes Chapel. Not like that shoot they tries to pull in the anime.
