What's the role of lilibeth , she can erase crimes , meaning she can bring back to life  a dead person (if you give the right money amount)
She kinda have the same abilities as jesus got in the time , but nobody know how it's possible.
That's why she was there with the dude and the police.
Since there was no crime , karen just left and gave everything to him to be forgiven (she wasn't in the first time until she met ben again  after walking around in the city beg for money)

It was about good person doing some really bad stuff , meaning everyone can turn in a bad way because anything.
