Description

Description

The Moskvitch 407B was properly an improved version of the type 407, but it had a better engine. The B version was made between 1960 and 1963, and was succeeded by type 408.
It was available mainly in the countries of the Eastern Bloc, but some of them were exported to Western Europe, notably to Belgium, where the car had won the prize of a Belgian International Car Show.
In Hungary, just like in many countries of the Eastern Bloc, the car was also used by the police from around 1964 to the mid-seventies.

Hope ya like it ;D

alitta2azaz ;) már muszáj volt rávezetni, mert senkinek nem tűnt fel (jó, persze nem is vártam el, de akkor is...).
There's already a right answer. Anyone else?

WH2007I always wondered how Hungarian police cars looked like in the 1960's and 60's. Now I know :)

Great job on the details - I love the chrome details of the bumper and the grile.

alitta2Thanks much, pal! Yeah, the way of your chrome details on bumpers inspired me a lot, I must confess ;)
BTW, an alternative livery also existed until the end of the eighties: it was the reversed version of this, so a blue stripe on white base and white label. It was mainly used on highway patrol cars that time.

WH2007 on
WH2007The Polish liveries were identical - blue with white stripe and white with a blue one :) If you're interested, here are some pictures of all the cars used by Polish Militia: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milicja_Obywatelska

alitta2Aw, thanks much for the link! You know, I'm still looking for pictures featuring police cars of several countries with more or less success. I had well known the livery of Polish police cars, and you're right, they look identical to Hungarian ones, except that the "police" label is out of the stripe, and not in it.
