Vitruvian Minion Blueprint ~ Despicable Me

Who needs a Vitruvian man when you can have a Vitruvian minion?!

I'll admit it outright without any shame: I love the Despicable Me franchise and those crazy minions. I've been wanting to do a minion related piece for ages but never really had any ideas until very recently. Typically, though, pretty much the day I wanted to start into the piece, my mouse died and left me unable to do pretty much anything art-related until I could get a replacement. I was finally able to sit down and make this, though, and it turned out even better than I hoped. This is obviously based on Leonardo da Vinci's famed Vitruvian Man (see the Wikipedia entry in case you're unfamiliar) drawing circa 1490 and features a full Russian translation of his original notes. I don't think it's ever explicitly stated anywhere in the films that Gru et al are Russian, but I just assumed from the plethora of context that they are so I chose to make all the text in Russian to follow suit. Since da Vinci's original is reminiscent of a blueprint style drawing, I took that to the next level in this to add in color and a bit more interest. I'm really happy with how this turned out and I enjoyed making this piece quite a lot. I have another version of this I will be uploading for those of you who are fans of the original da Vinci piece, as well. I hope all you other Despicable Me/Dave/minion fans out there enjoy this new piece!
