Now that's one HELL of a beautiful dragon! The detail is amazing and the pose is very classy yet still gives you a sense of she could still kick your arse. x3

I hear ya there, I rarely add bgs to my pics too. Probly cause I fear it will draw away from the main focus point. And they take up room on mah scanner. Plus I too suck at em. (Trees and grass dont like meh. xD)

For me it depends on what kind of drawing i'm doing. i 'm trying to learn because i find that backgrounds help set a mood for the picture or they set the scene. they work out like that for me anyway, but if only i could draw them....
