How can something so simple be such a pain in the @$$? This damn thing took all day to color. Entirely done using the shape, freeform pen, and pencil tools.
There are parts that are complete crap. I know what they are so don't point them out. So after many hours and several cans of soda, here's a Danny pic in Butch's style which I have butchered because I can't draw it worth of crap nor cel shade even though I used a buttload of references.

Secondly, sitting poses like this are very common in art (and photography). It would not surpise me if your friend used the same image I used for reference. Fan Art by definition is restricted to a very tight focus which means that similarities are impossible to avoid.
Learning the style used in the show I would not be using a fan-artist's images for reference as they would most likely be inaccurate and full of flaws. (just like mine is)
Lastly, I rarely post on here as is so I don't browse that often and you didn't mention the name of your friend. If I was inspired by another fan-artist's idea I would have said so.
I hope that this clears it up.
