This started out as me sketching on the bus, and turned into something I am fairly happy with. <br />

Yes, I know it bears only limited resemblance to the Squall we all know and love, and some die-hard fans will hate me for that, I suspect, but working without a ref (except for the Griever pendant, which I own, and referred to) I think I did a reasonably good job.<br />
<br />
About half an hour's work, + 10-15 mins cleaning up on PS. Apologies for the poor quality scan, but I cannot afford a better scanner.

Well he kinda looks like a realistic Squall. Sorta looks like an actor they would get to play him, if they ever made ff8 into a movie '~' I think you did an awsome job on the hair. He looks a little bit messed up, you know like he's been out all day and night fighting, or is that just your shade style?
Never, ever apologize for drawing the characters you love in your own, personal style. I think that's the heart of fanart, and the people who dog and complain are nothing but silly children who can't appreciate art. Love your style!
