Description

This is one of my facebook friends who said she would like someone to draw her. I suggested maybe I could try drawing her as a fairy. However, I thought afterwards that it might be best if I just made a portrait of her - at least for now.

She seems quite sweet and pretty.
I like her hair and her face very much.
Her hand seem as though they might be just a bit small, though.

You're right about the hands Firiel. I was happy with her face (also I was probably feeling a bit tired by then) so, although I knew they weren't quite right, I left them as they were. As a matter of interest, the girl's name is Natalie. Natalie (now about 12) was a mere 'bump in her mummy's tummy' when my son (now age 19) and I came to live round the corner from their house. They moved away four or five years later, but my son is still friends with Natalie and her two older brothers and sister. Just saying. Thanks for your interest. ^^

The shading is really good but I think the scanner messes it up. I bet your friend loved this.

Not sure what you mean by 'messes it up' Crystal. The scanner used doesn't appear to have any adjustments (at least if there are I haven't found any). I applied something called 'autolevels' later in my photoediting app. That has boosted contrast quite a lot. (I prefer that though. I think it gives the drawing more impact - almost a charcoal effect).
I feel sure my friend likes my drawing very much. I was chatting with her on facebook chat after I'd done it. When she saw it her immediate reaction was to set it as her facebook profile picture.
