Rains parents

This is my entry to a contest on DA, to draw Rains parents as I see them.

This is Ryder! Rains sire, and Sandy! Her dam. I thought of a story for them both so here it is!


Sandy is a lakota horse, hence the lakota paint marks and the trademark feather! ^^ She belongs to Little Creeks father, and was born in the villiage. Just like her family before her, she has never known herd life. But she is happy. And knows her child will be passed onto her masters son. She is extremely fun and feisty. She loves to laugh and play tricks, she's full of fire and courage. Very loyal and very swift. She's beautiful, quick-witted, kind yet can get into trouble.

Ryder was born in a herd, but didn't like the dangers of herd life and after expressing wants to see man, was banished from his herd. He wandered alone untill he spotted a beautiful cream mare grazing, approaching nervously he greeted her, and they were inseperable ever since. Just like Rain does to Spirit, Sandy shows Ryder her world. He is quickly accepted into the villiage and a few years later, Rain is born.
Ryder is quite, calm and wise. He is strong, mature and very proud. A brave, handsome stallion with a gentle approach to humans and life, he keeps Sandy in check. He has great endurance. But he can be very timid and nervous.

Rain inherited most of her fathers visual atributes, being a paint and the shape of her head, also the blue eyes. But she has got a mane like her mothers coat. Also from her father is his gentleness, wisdom and bravery. She has both her parents beauty. She is swift like her mother and has the endurance of her father. Also from her mother she has her wit, humour, courage, fire, fun and loyalty. And her comfort around humans.

And thats them! ^^ I had that story mulling around in my mind for ages, and I think I missed bits out, but there you go. I worked really hard on these and I love how the pic came out! specially the colouring. I really like these two! Please comment!
