beauty out of chaos, after andrew jones

this is a painting done (copied) from andrew jones's tutorial in imagine FX a while ago. i decided that it would make an interesting challenge to attempt to recreate the original artwork using acrylic paints, rather than painter x computer program and some form of tablet. i chose to do this image as i was interested to try to recreate the layers of colours, and transparency within the origional, but in the end most of the detail was lost. overall it's far from spectacular, and i got pretty fed up with it and frustrated by the limitations (basically my lack of competence) with the medium i was using, so it's pretty scrappy in a lot of areas.

i'm uploading it, as i feel i could really do with getting some criticism (ideally constructive, but anything's helpful), as i think i'm not really improving at the moment, and any advice on what anyone would prefer if done differently/reworked would be helpful or any techniques or media you feel i should try would be very much appreciated, and may well be implemented when i get the time.
