true story: in 2003 i was in my old home town, Marland,OK, visitng my cousins and friends. i went to the general store (or Little Store as we called it) and bought a bottle of Sobe, so did my sis, Michaela, i call her Mickey. after that we walked down to the pond and saw my cousin, Daniel (9-10 yrs)and his friend Evan (same age) shootin turtles, frogs, rabbits, and other creaturres with his pump BB or pellet gun (Wasnt really payin attention). my other cousin Marissa (8 yrs) was there too. when Daniel saw us with the Sobe bottles he asked if when we were finished he could shoot 'em. my sis finished hers off and she threw it in the shallow end of the water so Daniel could shoot it. he shot it and when i finished mine he said for me to give it to him. i said no, i wanted to keep it (i was a packrat at that age) he said give it to him again and i walked away. he followed me up the hill that leads to the dirt road. he said my name and i turned around. he pumped the gun like 11 times and shot me in the arm that DID'NT have the Sobe bottle. i looked at my left wrist and it was gushing blood like a fountain. as a reflex i pressed my other hand against the wound as tight as i possibly could (you learn stuff when ur moms a certified nurse or something). my hands were covered in warm blood within seconds. i was so scared i didnt hear anything around me, my sis said Daniel said he thought the safety was on then ran the opposite direction i headed towards. my sis and Marissa followed me on the dirt road that headed to mt old house that we werte selling to a family. Mickey ran to the door and pounded on it, saying "Help! my sister got shot! she's dying!" a woman went to the door and i was standing beside Mickey holding my arm and bleeding profusely. she laughed and went back inside. i started to walk to the old Missouria Head-Start building and told mickey to pound on the door/ no one answered. by then i was starting to feel dizzy from blood loss. Mickey told me to stay there and ran to my aunt Cynthia's house next to the old place. Mickey was half way there when a woman came out of the head-start. i yelled as loud as i could to Mickey to come back. she did and the woman took me inside. she told me to sit down while she got a rag. she told me to hold it as tight as i could to my wound. i did while Mickey called my moms cell. she said "Mama! Breanna got shot at the pond! were in the Little School! She's dying! she's dying!" (we called it the Little School for some reason) she drove over, it only took her two minutes cuz the Little Store wasnt very far away from the Little School and she was going 95 mph. LeeAnn, the woman who worked at the Little Store came with her. me and my sis call her Aunt LeeAnn. my aunt Cynthia saw my mom drive super fast by her house and went to the Little School. Mama came in and saw me in a chair, my face colorless, with a bloody rag to my wrist and the woman trying to make me feel better. my aunt Cynthia too and this is the part that rocks, Cynthia is a full blown certified nurse! she was strong too, when she wrapped th rag around my wrist my entire hand immediately turned blue. my mom quickly thanked the woman and ran me to the van. she drove like 98 mph to the hospital, aunt LeeAnn in the passenger seat, and busted into the hospital doors. (can you believe i had to wait for a dr! for fuck's sake i bleeding to death!) they took an x-ray and turns out the pellet/BB was wedged between two bones and it nicked an artery. the doctor numbed my arm and cut the sides of the hole in my wrist to see if he could get it out. but he couldnt, if he took it out i would bleed out cuz of the artery. so to this day i still have the pellet/BB in my wrist. if you feel the scar you can also feel the BB/pellet in my wrist. cool ,huh.
