Chapter 1 - Appearance
Chapter 1 - Appearance
You judge him by appearances,
You see only surface deep,
Without ever taking time
To see the secrets that he keeps.
Well dressed and well presented,
The boy's life seems ideal.
You think he hasn't one complaint,
Never knowing how he feels.
He is always given everything,
Or at least thats how it seems.
But he's given what they want to give,
Regardless of his dreams.
You see him in the halls,
And you see him at the store,
But never have you looked at him
To see there's something more.
To you the boy seems perfect:
A well-adjusted lad.
But you would seem the same way too
If you hid the pain you had.
And while you drown in your self-pity,
You never think to ask
About the things inside his heart
And the feelings that he masks.
But he shows you only smiles
And for this you show a frown
Without knowing that he does the same
When there's no one else around.
So continue to despise him
And never stop to think
That all your petty gossiping
Might push him past the brink.
For a fact that might surprise you,
Though I'm sure he'll never tell:
That little, well-adjusted boy
Keeps a razor blade as well.
You see only surface deep,
Without ever taking time
To see the secrets that he keeps.
Well dressed and well presented,
The boy's life seems ideal.
You think he hasn't one complaint,
Never knowing how he feels.
He is always given everything,
Or at least thats how it seems.
But he's given what they want to give,
Regardless of his dreams.
You see him in the halls,
And you see him at the store,
But never have you looked at him
To see there's something more.
To you the boy seems perfect:
A well-adjusted lad.
But you would seem the same way too
If you hid the pain you had.
And while you drown in your self-pity,
You never think to ask
About the things inside his heart
And the feelings that he masks.
But he shows you only smiles
And for this you show a frown
Without knowing that he does the same
When there's no one else around.
So continue to despise him
And never stop to think
That all your petty gossiping
Might push him past the brink.
For a fact that might surprise you,
Though I'm sure he'll never tell:
That little, well-adjusted boy
Keeps a razor blade as well.
