Chapter 1 - Stranger

You see me in your nightmares,
And you wonder who I am
I’m the keeper of the broken,
I’m the leader of the damned.
 
I’m the shadow standing in the street,
A phantom taking flight,
I’m the faded silhouette
That you swear you see each night
 
Neither demon nor a human
Instead I’m stuck between,
I’m the shadow that both hides and lurks
In the scariest of dreams
 
I lean over your shoulder
And whisper in your ear
I’m the cold and evil voice
That only you can hear.
 
The thoughts that you were thinking,
But never talked about,
I’m the one that turns them dark
And then makes them pour out.
 
I’m the shiver down your spine
And I’m the chill upon your breath
I’ve had many names throughout the years,
But you can call me Death.
