This is a new feature I'm trying called "World of GeneX." Every 2 weeks, I will post a little article giving some background info on a character or feature of my fanfic series! I hope this proves interesting. Without further ado, here's the first edition of "World of GeneX!"

Arthur "Copter" Prower is a modified clone of Tails, with black fur, spiky tail ends and strands of white hairs jutting out over his right eye. He wears blue pants with yellow stripes rounding the bottom of each leg, goggles, a pair of special bouncy shoes and one of the golden Chaos Tailbands. Though his design his fairly simplistic, his story is certainly never dull.
He was the first project started by the rat scientist, Bucky Stein, years ago. However, it wasn't until after Punchy was completed as "Experiment 1" that he was given the name "Experiment 2," and Bucky finally made plans to complete him. On his awakening, Copter got a bomb attached to his wrist and was bestowed with the Bouncy Shoes, an early example of the complex relationship he would always have with his creator. He was then captured by GUN. With his bomb ticking away the time he had to rescue Bucky from GUN's prison, he was forced to forge a shaky alliance with Dr. Eggman, and battle with Sonic and Tails. Ultimately, he failed a test of loyalty presented by Bucky, and was blown up by his bomb despite suceeding in rescuing him! However, he had aquired the Chaos Tailband by that point, and it saved him from death. In the time since, Copter eventually befriended Tails and started to become a force for good in the world, condemning the acts of Eggman and Bucky that led him to pain and suffering in the first place.
Despite turning over a new leaf, Copter's time with Eggman had earned him the scorn of one Richard Gunner, a GUN Sergeant who was already furious due to having both captured and lost Copter in the same week. Gunner has a vendetta against all animals, but used Copter and Punchy's association with Eggman to get all of the Experiments, plus Bucky, placed on wanted posters for arrest. Fortunately for Copter, he soon discovered the perfect place to lie low: Eggman's old, now-abandoned base, Darkegg Fortress, which sits on a peaceful island inhabited by Chao.
Copter's abilities range from the same running and flying skills Tails enjoys to a number of Chaos based attacks, such as Chaos Whirlwind, which sends a wind charged with Chaos energy to damage nearby foes, or blow them away! He can also tap into the Chaos Tailband for increased strength or to turn invisible, though he doesn't always quite know how controlling these powers works. His Bouncy Shoes can bounce him high into the air, though he seldom activates them due to their clumsy nature. He owns his own biplane built by Dr. Eggman, called the Hurricane, which is maintained by a beaver robot named Hoover. The Hurricane has numerous hidden features that Copter hasn't fully learned yet. His super form has been used several times to help battle threats ranging from the super-powered Kosmogon to a "Temporal Emperor Mephiles." He has a Dark Copter form as well, but it has yet to truly be seen in action.

2BIT here, to talk a bit more candidly. That's the focus of this commentary segment.
Copter was the first GeneX character I created, not counting Gator, who isn't really a GeneX character. In the beginning, he was more evil and ended up dying in the first short story I put together. I have no clue what happened to that.
In time, I started to get this idea that I was gonna do a whole Sonic RPG game. So I brought Copter back as my first OC. Since I'm 2BIT, I decided to call him Experiment 2.... I could go into more detail about why there are experiments, but maybe I'll save that for another day.
So... why a clone? Isn't that totally hackneyed? Probably. But frankly, I liked the idea. At the time, Shadow was relatively new. Sonic Heroes had just come out. I decided Tails and Knuckles needed their own "dark counterparts." A lot of people, I think, avoid GeneX just because Copter and Punchy have these "unoriginal" designs... as if there aren't a million similarly lazy OCs out there. My goal has always been to set myself apart with the storyline.
By now, Copter's had a heck of a journey. He befriended Tails in a much...well...friendlier way than Shadow or Punchy ever managed with Sonic and Knuckles; he went on an emotional roller coaster in Soleanna that led his character to split off into Dimentime; then his two selves went on a journey in GeneX Generations, which was a bit different because this was two DIFFERENT Copters, not Classic and Modern Copter.
So, that's Copter. We'll be back in 2 weeks with a new episode, possibly something less obvious. I hope readers who missed a bit are able to catch helpful info through these journals, and that others may get their curiousity piqued and decide to try reading some related stories!
