Hidden Ruins is Punchy's first stage in the GeneX series, and is also a recurring location, being the home of Rainbow the Echidna. It is located beneath Station Square, accessed through hidden sewer passageways.

The Hidden Ruins are the ruins of an ancient echidna city, once inhabited by Rainbow's clan, the Raisol Tribe. In this city, they kept a powerful relic safe, the location of which has been lost to the ages.

The buildings are worn and cracked, but still intact after thousands of years. The roads and the buildings are all made of dirt and rock, as the entire city was dug into the ground. Perhaps the echidnas had some help from magic, since apparently there are some mechanisms in the ruins that run on magic, such as barriers to lock buildings, which require certain relics to unlock.

Rainbow has her own small home in these ruins, but usually stays in the massive temple, the original purpose of which is lost on her. It's big enough that she has housed both Punchy and Copter there for brief periods as well. It's a perfect hideout for them, since so few know of the Hidden Ruins' existence.

Not much adventuring has been done in this stage yet, but there are sure to be secrets to uncover here as the series continues, so stay tuned.

Author's Commentary!

I have never heard of that thing in the Archie Comics where there was a city under another city. Shut up. I also had no idea that Knuckles spent some time in that comic green.

(actually, I learned that stuff after the fact. my mind was blown. I literally cannot have my own idea, even if I have it totally independantly. someone HAS done it first)

I thought I'd have more to say about this. Honestly, it's not even much of a stage in-game... Well, it has a unique feel to it, but it feels more like an abandoned RPG village than a stage. Well, Illusi's in there to mess with ya. Hey, I forgot to talk about how this is where Punchy meets Illusi. Well... maybe now those who didn't know are curious. It's an early chapter of Tails the Fox, if you are.
