okay so i really want this scholarship, and no one else from my school submitted one for this scholarship...but here is my dilemma. it will explain in the letter....

Dear Lake Geneva Rotary Club,

As you will notice, I have not met the qualifications of the minimum 40 hours of community service and I am also not a 3.0 student. If you could do me one favor, that would be to read this before discarding this application. What I can say is that I am truly passionate about one thing, and that is art.
All through my school career, the only thing that mattered to people was sports and good grades, the arts were not commonly recognized by people. I was defiantly a misfit because I was neither good at sports, and my grades weren’t up to standards. That isn’t to say that I didn’t try, it is just that things just did not click. I knew I was different from others because of my passion for drawing. I wanted to stick out from the crowd, I wanted to show them I was good at something that many people in my school could not do or didn’t really care about as much as I did. I continued to practice and build on my skills even though I have been suffering from social anxiety and depression my whole life.
Why is this an excuse for not meeting the qualifications? It really is not, and I can not say that I am proud of myself. I can say that my form of community service is trying to put a smile on people’s faces with my art.

Thank you for your time,

Vanessa Nettesheim
