I'm slowly counting down the days until August 18th...and I think I'm nervous already :(

See, last year I did my Leaving Certficate, which is this big exam in Ireland that all sixth year students sit in June, after completing their final year of school. You sit seven exam subjects and you the points from your six best are put together. The amount of points you achieve determines what college courses you can be accepted into.

Last year I got 390 points, but the course I wanted to do - Teaching English as a Foreign Language, concentrating on English and Japanese - went up fifty five points, I got a few other offers for college, but the two I really wanted were taken off the table thanks to the points jumping up. I decided to go back to school for another year and repeat my final year and exams.

You sit the Leaving Cert in June, and the results arrive mid August, then the college offers come out and you decide what to accept and move into your college accomodation - all in the space of about two weeks.

I hope I get the course I want, I really want to study English and Japanese, my first course is 445 points, I don't think I'll get it, but my second is 370, so fingers crossed :)

I can't wait for the Boxing season to start back up again! I'm seriously bored without training :( Boxing was never an overly large part of my life until the start of this year. My younger brother, two younger cousins and a good few of the guys I know were all members of the local boxing club - St. Nicholas' Boxing Club - I always wanted to try it, but I figured I was too old, being 18 starting. Then I got into a cat fight with a girl in school, ended up getting dragged apart by two teachers, one of the guys I work with who was in my class spent the better part of a whole week of lunch hours trying to convince me to come down to training, just even once and see if I liked it.

I wanted to do, but I didn't want to kinda move in on my little brother's sport, I didn't think he'd appreciate his big sister taking up an interest in his sport, but I asked him anyhow. He was more excited about me joining than I was :O He helped me get my gum shield and boxing wraps and told the club chairman that I wanted to join.

I was kinda nervous, I felt stupid at first, but then you notice none of the guys are going to laugh at you. My brothereven bought me this kick-@$$ pink gear-bag for my wraps, gum shield, rope and mits - I seriously didn't think I'd like it as much as I do.

I fought in two tournaments last season, loved it! Okay, I was really nervous for my first one, especially when I was a novice and the girl I was against had been up for an All Ireland Title, I ended up drawing with her, so I was pretty happy with that :) I was really really nervous though, my first proper fight and I walk into this massive hall with a 20x20 foot boxing ring, all these officials, Nicholas Cruz Hernandez was there and all - he actually kicked everyone out of his changing room so that I could use it - the man is so nice it's not funny, total dote!
