Spoilers Ahead!

Season II, Episode 7
Lancer breaks one of his spears to heal Saber's left hand from injury; which she uses to activate Excalibur with her golden light, and defeats Caster with a single strike. Intense. Anime. Scene. EVER!!!

Remaining Heroic Spirits return to their defend mode, while Saber leaves to Lancer's hide-out with help from Maiya-san and Irisviel. She battles Lancer, one last time, for honor and a knight's chivalry.

Kayneth is revived of his strength and sits and watches the scene unfold, questioning why Lancer doesn't take advantage of the situation and kill Saber. Out of the blue, Kiritsugu pops up and threatens to kill Kayneth's already amputated wife, Sola.

Kayneth El-Melloi cries as he chooses Sola over Lancer, his trump card in winning the Holy Grail. As Saber watches, Lancer thrusts his Nobel Phantasma, his left-over spear, into his abdomen and... (does what, exactly?) .... and rages, calling out that everyone at the scene are monsters and when they reach hell, they will experience his rage.

While Saber watches over with disbelief obvious in her eyes, Kiritsugu watches with a poker face, as if nothing had happened at all.

Like I said. This is the most intense anime scene I had ever watched. Now we, the audience, knows why everyone else in Fuyuki City calls Kiritsugu Emiya the Mage-Killer. Of course, the next two episodes don't help at all.

Hold up. Before I leave, I'd like to discuss this very arrogant creature by the name of Kayneth El-Melloi. In a past episode, it is revealed that while he summoned Lancer, his wife was present and used her as a substitute "Contractor"; if he was injured, his wife would use his Command Seal to command Lancer.

Forward past that episode, Kayneth battles against Kiritsugu and becomes gravely injured. Sola fixes him up with what she is capable of and when he awakens, she starts threatening him. "Give me the command seal, you old doofus!" is what we understand of her trying to communicate to Kayneth, but OFC with his power on the line, he refuses.

Sola grabs his right hand and pushes his pinky to the breaking point and replies something along the lines of "Give me the command seal or I will have to amputate your right arm." Well then, would you think that Kayneth agreed then?

Now forward back to the current episode: Kiritsugu threatened him. Choose Sola over Lancer. Kayneth obviously chose Sola over his own power in the HG war. My question is, why? Doth thou love her so much? It appears so.
