DON'T READ THIS UNLESS YOU'VE SEEN THE ACTUAL MOVIE! IF YOU DO I WILL DESTROY YOU!
So here it is. My review on the next chapter in the Twilight saga movie series, "New Moon".
So, the beginning, of course, starts with the Prologue. Bella has that mesmerizing dream with 'Gran' in it, which is actually herself. Then Edward comes over and says "Happy Birthday". Bella wakes up, realizing it's her 18th birthday. Now, to me, the old woman in this dream had the darkest, creepiest eyes ever! But, that doesn't warp the wonderous first scene of this film.
So next, Bella's explaining that it's her birthday. Then, Alice gives her a "surprise" present to Bella (even when she said no), which was amazing, since Alice does this cool acrobatic thing over a railing. Then Jasper moves Bella's feelings to make her wear the present (the green dress) at her party. This, I thought, was a very well done scene because it shows the talents of the Cullens.
"C'mon it's time! It's time!"-Alice Cullen
The birthday scene. Bella is now eighteen. "Dating an older woman. Rawr!"-Emmett Cullen (to Edward). That was probably one of my favorite lines in the whole movie (since Bella is theoretically a year older than Edward). The stereo is already installed, but it's a box, too. Haha! The one that gave Bella the papercut was from Carlisle. Jasper can't control his hunger, so he runs after Bella, while Edward saves her just in time. Carlisle then stitches up the gash from the glass for Bella, telling her what Edward thinks of his own soul. Now this is very informing for the people who have not read the book (because they're ignorant). I love how Jasper is so uncontrolled.
Yada yada.
"Don't do anything reckless."-Edward Cullen
Edward takes Bella to a certain part in the woods where he tells her that the Cullens are moving away. Bella tells Edward that if it's about souls then he can take hers and that the "thing" with Jasper was nothing. He kisses Bella's forhead, then is gone with the next breeze. This was much more profound and dramatic than it was in the book. Sure it was less detailed, but it was moving.
So now Bella feels as if there is a gaping hole from where her heart was. She doesn't care about anything anymore. She sits at the Cullen lunch table at school, away from her friends. She has excruciating dreams that make her scream in the night, getting Charlie to wake up and worry about her. In these scenes, I think Kristen Stewart was fantastic. She had this glare/long face that always showed what she was thinking. This was her best acting in the whole movie.
"But Bella, I would never do that."-Jacob Black
A friend is always there for you. Especially when they're a dog. Here comes Jacob to save the day. It's his turn to show that he could be her love, too. After Bella has a crazy motorcycle ride with a stranger, seeing Edward in a fog, she becomes an "Adrenaline Junkee." Saving two old bikes from the junkyard, she spends weeks with Jacob Black, fixing up the motorcycles and then some. Her gaping hole almost heals every time she's near him. Now the bikes are done, so Bella's all like, let's take 'em for a spin! After being taught the basics, Bella goes at an incredible speed on the bike, seeing Edward every...5 seconds. Going haywire, she flips off the bike, slamming her head into a boulder. Jacob runs over, saying that she shouldn't be sorry for bleeding. He says it's no problem, the takes off his shirt, this is when 80% of the theater (including me) howled and screamed. 'Cause he's RIPPED of course!
But what makes Jacob abandon Bella for weeks on end? He becomes a werewolf, it's now in his blood and nature to kill all vampires, ridding them from the world. He now considers himself an uncontrollable monster. I almost cried whenever he started talking about how much he hates the way he is. So now Bella is lonely again.
Victoria's back. And she's seeking revenge for the loss of her mate, James. Now after Bella, Victoria is also on the run from the loyal wolf pack, who swear to protect Forks from the 'cold ones.' This takes on an amazing turn because, in this movie, you don't just see it from Bella's perspective.
Without the adrenaline or Jacob Black, Bella needs excitement. Now she's motivated to go cliff-diving, just like Sam's pack had, only she's going to do it at the EXACT same height that the PRACTICED Sam did. She has no clue where Jacob is (for he's chasing Victoria in this exact scene). Victoria jumps off another part of the high cliff, leaving the wolf pack behind in defeat. Bella jumps and falls, landing in the cool water that brings her the same rush as the bikes did. Alice sees this vision, assuming that Bella killed herself, since werewolves block her visions. Victoria and Bella are now in the water together. And after seeing Victoria swimming at her underwater, Bella tries to swim away as fast as she can (backwards), which leads to her head crashing into the rock of the cliff. Now drowning, she finally sees Edward laying right next to her in the water. Jacob finds her and drags her out of the water, leaving 'Edward' behind. He saves her from drowning and gets her clothes dry at his house. And then he's driving her home.
"108 degrees over here."-Jacob Black
Jacob is convinced that he finally has Bella. So he tries to kiss her twice. But she still has that gaping hole for Edward and "the bloodsuckers." So he still doesn't have chance with her.
Now Alice comes back, and she and Jacob have a small quarrel. Alice tells Bella that Edward wants to die because he thinks Bella killed herself.
"He wants to die, too."-Alice Cullen
Alice and Bella go on a crazy adventure to Volterra in order to save Edward. Bella runs through the streets of a Volterra festival, running into Edward a little too late, getting the Voturi's attention. Edward, Alice, and Bella have to deal with the Volturi and their magnifiscent mind powers. It was intense, but not enough. I mean, it's the climax of the book, right? Well, it only lasted around 10 minutes. And the Volturi characters' lines were short and very limited. I was hoping for more, but the movie lasted around 2 1/2 hours...
After coming home, Bella gets votes from the Cullens on whether she should be changed. Bella and Edward confront Jacob, who's upset and angered at Edward. There is a smal hit from Edward to Jacob, which sends Jake to transformation (you know what I mean). Then, Edward says he'll change her on one condition.
"What is that?"-Bella Swan
"...Marry me."-Edward Cullen

THE END
