It took me forever to complete but it did win several awards in a couple of art shows...so...I thought some people may enjoy it. Oils on hard canvas board. Original size is 12 x 9.Cowboy Bebop Halloween Again.. by TerryXarturn:uuid:9f578d58-ed07-7f1d-a1d4-4685bbeb4b842008-09-09T15:25:12-07:00Hey there! I was finally able to restore my old hard drive that crashed a while ago and found some old art. So yeah...it's an oldie...but I thought it was cute. My weak illustration of Spike and Ed. Enjoy!!
edit add: if anyone wants to take a crack at coloring this, I would be honored. Just let me know and I will send a high quality download!Christina Aguilera WIP by TerryXarturn:uuid:41b01c21-c805-15a7-87b6-31ab4e85527a2008-09-01T16:51:30-07:00My current project. Oil painting of Christina Aguilera. The only part finished so far is just her face. I still need to complete her hair, top and background. Oil painting on illustration board. Drawn first in pencil, sealed, acrylic paint base with finished oils on top. Hair, top & background are just base acrylic right now. I will finish these areas with detailed oils.Cowboy Bebop Spike by TerryXarturn:uuid:2ee417dc-adc1-eb7f-c07b-6006637bb4d42005-12-10T09:40:29-08:00Hi folks! This was just a very quick sketch I did of Spike from Cowboy Bebop. I was going to bring it to a complete finished drawing but I liked the rough sketchy feel of the drawing and decided to leave it as is. Enjoy!John Lennon by TerryXarturn:uuid:ecac8020-aa93-faae-f7c2-b7fa712981b52005-12-10T09:35:20-08:00Hi Folks! Since this week was the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death, I thought I would post a drawing I did of him a few years ago. John was and still is very special to me and I still remember the day he died like it was yesterday. Many of the young people here probably weren't even born yet but believe me it was as big as the day John Kennedy was killed. It was a horrible day and I still cry every time I think about it. The reference for this drawing was a screen cap from the movie A Hard Day's Night. It was completed with Derwent soft graphite pencils ranging from 2b to 8b on heavy weight medium textured Strathmore paper. Once again my scanner tends to read the texture of the paper more than the subtle shading so it looks a little rough but I think you get an idea of the drawing. Please feel free to ask any questions. I will be happy to answer! Thanks for reading!Cowboy Bebop Thanksgiving! by TerryXarturn:uuid:ae566e42-3601-b33d-cb3f-f0ef179b5e902005-11-18T09:46:39-08:00This was a fun Cowboy Bebop sketch I did a few years ago as a Thanksgiving greeting on my website. I thought since Thanksgiving is around the corner it would be fun to post it. The drawing was done in pencil with color added from PhotoShop. Just a quick fun drawing for Thanksgiving with my favorite Cowboy Bebop characters. Enjoy! :)Dana Scully, FBI by TerryXarturn:uuid:a045c738-433b-5418-23ad-bdf0604048af2005-11-18T09:31:11-08:00Hi everyone! This is a portrait of Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully from The X-Files I did a few years ago. Drawing was done with Derwent graphite pencils ranging from 2b to 8b on medium texture Strathmore drawing paper. Unfortunately, my scanner seems to read the texture more than the subtle shading so it looks a little rough with some shading lost. But I think you get a general idea of the drawing. Feel free to ask any questions and enjoy!Fox Mulder, FBI by TerryXarturn:uuid:0161b5de-95d8-518b-cec1-9dc2ddc45f7e2005-11-18T09:25:01-08:00Hi everyone! Here's a portrait I did a few years ago of David Duchovny as Fox Mulder from The X-Files. Portrait was done with Derwent graphite pencils ranging from 2b to 8b on medium texture Strathmore drawing paper. Feel free to ask any questions and enjoy!JetxSpike, Partners by TerryXarturn:uuid:59137aab-d968-c848-7df5-6890e9d8f0d92005-08-10T18:12:50-07:00This is a work in progress. I'm not big into yaoi but I received a request (and some money, yea!) to illustrate someone's Cowboy Bebop fan fic. This is a preliminary sketch I presented to her and she liked it. So next I have to ink & color and finish the background (right now it's just a VERY rough draft) I threw some mood lighting in with photoshop for now. But I wanted to get some feedback here to see if I should really continue with this piece. Like I said, I'm not a big fan of this genre so it's hard for me to draw. Of course, this is very tame compared to what I've seen *shudders*. Any comments or constructive criticism is welcomed. Thanks for looking. Hope I didn't gross anyone out! LOL!! I also have another pic for the same fan fic coming shortly. You've been warned!! LOL!!Cowboy Bebop -Living in a Dream by TerryXarturn:uuid:afcaa7b3-669d-1dd5-22f1-320490ca6dc02005-08-10T16:48:45-07:00This is a drawing I started a few years ago and never finished. I finally decided to try out my new Copic Markers, Micron Ink Pens and prismacolor pencils and then added some finishing touches with photo shop. The pic is based on Spike's feeling of living in a dream and knowing that he would die very soon. Faye comes to him as an angel in his dream (yeah, I know, kind of corny) but I always felt that under all their fighting and bickering, they really did care for each other. They were just too stubborn to admit it. Just my opinion. I know that Bebop can be interpreted many different ways. Oh well, hope you like it! Thanks for looking.Angelina Jolie by TerryXarturn:uuid:4203b8cf-570d-6faa-b92b-963a8be9cf172005-03-17T08:36:20-08:00Hi folks! I haven't been around in awhile and someone asked if I would draw Jolie. As luck would have it, I already had a drawing I did of her a few years ago. Sadly, the scanner picked up the texture of the paper more than the shading. So the delicate shading doesn't show up very well, but I think you get the general idea. Thank you for looking! Happy St. Patty's Day!Sarah Michelle Geller/Buffy by TerryXarturn:uuid:183ffac7-859c-60b0-94d4-d6e0a60855392004-11-14T17:47:35-08:00This was a gift I did for a friend a little while ago. Unfortunately I don't have the original anymore and all I have is this crappy digital picture that pretty much "killed" the shading & details. Which is too bad. It was one of my favorite drawings but I think you can get an idea of what it looked like. Done in graphite pencils from 2b to 8b on 11x17 medium texture Strathmore drawing paper. Please feel free to ask any questions and enjoy!X-Files Fight The Future by TerryXarturn:uuid:798d7eef-8740-112c-adf3-aad40c06d7952004-11-12T18:17:31-08:00I realized I haven't posted any of my oil paintings. This is one I did of the X-Files Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. I was never really finished and I had so much trouble with it (I see all the mistakes and problems in it). I'm still learning to oil paint and this was one of the early projects I did for my oil painting class. The reference was from the promotional posters for the X-Files Fight The Future movie.
Here is the boring technical info: I drew the images in pencil first and then protected the sketch with a clear coat of matte medium. After that, I painted a light glaze of watered-down acrylics to plot out the base colors and then finally painted the finished colors and details with oil paint with various size brushes on a 20x15 Bainbridge cold press illustration board. The reference poster had a sepia tone over their faces so I decided to keep that color theme with the painting. I wanted the center "X" symbol to sort of "glow" but I couldn't get the effect I was looking for. It took me so long to work on this picture that I basically said "that's it! I've had enough!" and left it alone. After it dried, I sprayed a few coats of clear acrylic varnish to even out the textures/tones of the painting (some of it dried with a matte finish while some of it dried with a glossy finish). The varnish helped to even that out but I noticed it could use a few more coats around Mulder's head. I then realized I never even signed the painting!! I guess I felt it was never finished but at this point...it is!! LOL!! So I guess I can finally sign it!
Lastly, to make matters even more difficult, the painting did not fit in my scanner so I had to wait for an overcast day and use my digital camera to take a picture of the painting outside. I never get a nice clear, crisp pic with a digital camera (at least not with mine!) so it looks kind of grainy and lost some details. Oh well...I think you can get an idea of what it looks like but it looks much better in person. Okay, I'll stop babbling now. Enjoy!Cowboy Bebop Halloween by TerryXarturn:uuid:30662d34-3bf2-f938-448f-de316a47bd432004-11-11T17:41:23-08:00I'm not very good at illustration/anime art but I love the medium! I did this sketch of Spike & Ed for Halloween and tried to add color with PhotoShop. Sorry it's not better but I thought it was fun! Hope you enjoy something different from me! Happy Halloween!Gillian Anderson & David Duchovny by TerryXarturn:uuid:af34491a-b50b-64a8-2637-a4d922d958c02004-11-10T12:54:10-08:00Again, it's been a while since I submitted due to my recent surgery. This is a pic I did last year as a Xmas gift of Gillian Anderson & David Duchovny aka Agent Scully & Mulder of the X-Files. I'm a huge X-Files fan myself and love to draw them. The reference photo was from a TV Guide spread when the series ended. I loved this photo so much I just had to draw it. It's done on 11x17 medium texture Strathmore paper with graphite pencils ranging from 2b to 8b. They were both wearing white shirts and I decided not to put too much detail into their clothes and concentrate on their faces & hands instead. Unfortunately, some of it got cut off in the scanner. But you get the idea. Thank you again for all your lovely comments. I really appreciate it.Kiefer Sutherland by TerryXarturn:uuid:665e9e18-6f3d-9968-0af5-7a758afd4fa92004-11-10T12:43:29-08:00Hi! It's been a while since I submitted something. I've had some surgery and it's kept me away from the computer for awhile. Here is a portrait I did of Kiefer Sutherland. I think he stars in the TV show called "24" I don't really watch it, but I saw this photo & thought it would make a wonderful drawing. It's done on 11x17 medium texture strathmore paper in graphite pencils ranging from 2b to 6b. Unfortunately, my scanner tends to read the texture of the paper more than the shading but I think you get the idea. All comments are welcome! Thank you!James Marsters by TerryXarturn:uuid:45c8fa68-dabf-2300-559e-542d8f9c1e7b2004-07-23T08:36:42-07:00eh..another older piece from last year. Someone asked me to draw James Marsters (I think he plays "Spike" on BTVS??) I'm an X-Files gal myself *g* Anyway, done in graphite pencils 2b thru 6b on heavy weight medium texture paper. Scanner really has a tough time with textures. Oh well..Paul & Linda McCartney by TerryXarturn:uuid:a0596798-32e7-043a-e32a-0e5ff0fc66b92004-07-22T10:07:41-07:00Hi folks! I had some requests to post something new but I couldn't post for awhile (problems logging in) & I don't really have anything new (sorry) but here is one of my favorites from 2002 of Paul & Linda McCartney. I hope you like it. It's done in graphite pencils 2b-8b on medium texture heavy weight paper. Unfortunately, the scanner didn't pick up all the shading & details but I guess you get the idea.Avril Lavigne by TerryXarturn:uuid:777c1b25-e7e9-83ab-98b6-a7586ace10752003-11-23T03:49:31-08:00This is a portrait I completed recently for a portrait drawing class I will be teaching in January for young people. I was trying to pick subjects they would be interested in drawing. I hope Avril will be one. Completed in graphite pencils 2b thru 6b on medium Strathmore paper 14x17.X-Files Autumn by TerryXarturn:uuid:973ab651-a309-4fac-8896-79a879222df02003-11-19T01:44:34-08:00This sketch was an experiment for me. The reference material was a friend's collage she made in PhotoShop. I really liked the composition plus I wanted to see if I could draw 3 sets of portraits in one drawing. Graphite pencil 2b thru 6b on 14x17 medium paper. I had to scan it in 2 parts and paste it back together. I think I hid the seam pretty well but it did mess with the shading a bit. Happy Autumn!Tom Cruise by TerryXarturn:uuid:8715f79f-bb4c-c55a-4a89-2a983986fc412003-11-12T08:18:01-08:00This is a portrait I did of Tom Cruise last year. It's done in pencils ranging from 2b to 6b on Strathmore medium texture paper. Original size is 14x17. Thank you for looking! Enjoy!Ichabod & Katrina by TerryXarturn:uuid:365038c0-66aa-8c59-5511-f2dfa3c092972003-09-25T03:20:39-07:00This is a drawing of Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci as Ichabod Crane and Katrina Van Tassel from Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow. Drawing was done with Derwent pencils ranging from 2b to 6b on Strathmore Medium texture paper.Space Cowboy Spike by TerryXarturn:uuid:2b3fdaac-c694-0d3a-6a7f-db5fb0e566572003-09-24T13:27:42-07:00My attempt at a somewhat realistic Spike. Reference for the pose was from a very old Andy Gibb album art. Materials used are Derwent graphite pencils ranging from 2b to 6b on Strathmore smooth bristol paper.
