This is a gift for my big sistah, :iconslaygal:. A belated Christmas gift actually. I don't think she realizes how cool of a gift she's getting, since I'm sending her the original. ;) But it'll make her happy, and that's what's important. She better frame it real nice though! :P
The man in the portrait is Japanese actor Shibue Jyoji. The name might not do much for you, but if you are familiar with the live action series of Sailor Moon, you should recognize him as Chiba Mamoru/Tuxedo Kamen. He was fun to draw, as he was a beautiful man, with a more Asian touch than most of the Asian boys I draw.
I think I did this in record time too. I didn't keep track too closely, but it feels like a record. O_o
The original of this is unavailable, however prints are for sale on request. Note me if interested!

The tutorial! Aren't you all excited?! Well, you should be, because I sort of busted my butt on this one. :D All for you!
Well, I'm not going to talk too much on this one, I'll let the tutorial do the talking. I hope it's satisfactory and easy to follow. If there's anything I forgot, or something that's unclear, or if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! I'm glad to help. <3
Also, for those of you who decide to try this out, note me with your finished wash! I'd love to see it!!
Please enjoy. :D
I'm sorry it's so big, but this was the only way to upload it. Sorry! My Creation by TsukiNoNekourn:uuid:7f0766fe-2788-5b94-af21-4078724d3c832006-10-08T14:15:57-07:00orry for the unimaginative title. :P Everything else sounded too cheesy. I'm open to suggestions for a better title.
The first piece for my new class, Digital Illustration II. It's a vector/Illustrator class, thus, the vector you see above you. The assignment was to choose something that was a 'guilty pleasure' of our and kind of stretch the concept into something creative. I decided to combine a couple of pleasures of mine (though they really aren't guilty ones), creating art, and my wonderful boyfriend Calvin. So, in my piece, I'm making him. :3
In case you aren't familiar with Illustrator technique, the face is made with a tool called Gradient Mesh. It uses grids and points to plot points and then blend colours to make a smooth effect instead of blocks of colour. It's a cool tool, however long it takes to do it. :P
But I'm pretty happy with it. I didn't choose the best reference, and I had to make up for it. But I'm happy with the effect. ^_^
(In hind sight I realize I should have uploaded this to FAC before my self portrait 2006, since this one preceeded it, but nothing I can do about that now. :P Just keep in mind this one was done first.)

I started this . . .months ago. More than six months ago. Then I got busy, it got put aside. Then tonight in biology, I'm bored. I find the file. We finish it. Biology is boring.
Hyde. Of course. It just started as a sketch, but I really liked it so I decided to experiement with colouring it in Photoshop. I'm rather happy with the result. I may do more.

......
Where did THAT come from?!
But anyhoo. This was my final for my Flash class. I really am not too fond of it, since I couldn't do what I really wanted to do. Flash hates me immensely, and between the random system crashes and the skipping of frames when I put in too much, I just sort of gave in. This was the result.
There are start and stop buttons in the corners, you'll see em if you mouse over them. Otherwise they are invisible so as not to distract.

But at least THIS is done. Or at the very least, I can't figure out what else to do to it. I kind of feel like it's not quite to that happy place yet, but I sure can't figure out what else it needs.
I'm hoping this will appeal to the very high demand for boy butt I seem to have on my watch list. Amusingly enough, the idea was spawned from two male classmates of mine. I of course, then made it my own.
The original idea was to do something with flowers. Then the story of Narcissus was shot into the fray, and suddenly a Narcissus-like male character was popping out of tiger lilies. SOMEone's been in the clone labs lately!
Seriously though, a fair deal of work went into this. Our little "Narcissus" here is a fully rigged character, from head to toe. He could go on to be animated, but that wasn't the point of the assignment. I've got other animations to worry about right now. :P Stay tuned, that'll be (hopefully) posted in the next couple of days.

I've been trying to post one every year now for the past three or four years. This would be Allie Katz circa 2006. I don't think I change much from year to year, but who cares? I think it better exhibits how my skills change. So to you nay-sayers: HA!
This was actually done as the final project for my Digital Illustration II class. I think I'll be okay, and it'll be an A in the hole. But wish me luck anyway. A's are good.
To explain this a little: I wanted to integrate flat vector imaging with gradient mesh to get a nifty stylized look. If you aren't familiar with gradient mesh, it is a vector function that allows you to use a grid to place points of colour that blend seamlessly with each other. That's what creates the soft, painted look. The blocky look is flat vector.
Damn though. This was a tedious one. But it sure takes less thought to do myself. After all, I already know what I look like!

Ta ha. :D Who'd have thought Hyde would make such a great Jesus?
Alright, alright, in all seriousness. This was an assignment for my painting class, and the object was to create a Renaissance style portrait with a modern subject. I thought Hyde would look lovely in the garb, so I chose him as my subject. Honestly, I didn't really realize I was making him into Jesus until someone pointed it out to me. I thought I was just making him into a Saint. But this is even better!
Before I get any nasty comments; this isn't meant to be cruel or blasphemous in any way. I'm not Christian, but this is just meant to be art. Just Hyde looking Saintly. I'm not saying Hyde IS Jesus or is BETTER than Jesus or anything. So before you start spouting any self-rightous religious crap, just keep in mind that this is MY PAINTING and MY OPINION. It's just art. Freedom of speech and all that.
I am quite proud of this though. Lots of experimentation and whatnot, and this is probably my best painting ever. Maybe my best Hyde portrait too. Opinions welcome.
I apologize for the funny ripples; unfortunately the scanner captured the texture of the paint and board. :(

This one features my incubus character Aucifer.
Sadly, Aucifer encountered some problems in his making. First, he wasin the car accident with me, and broke both his neck and ankle. Theneck wasn't a big deal (though you can see it in the pictures), but thebroken ankle made it very difficult for him to stand and forced me togrow a third hand to be able to hold and sculpt simultaneously.
Second, when being baked, Aucifer decided to rest against the coiled. This resulted in him burning his hair, and falling over. I was forcedto just use paint to cover up the burn, and glue to fix his ankle forthe second time.
All and all though, everything turned out well. This was our firstmaquette, and we were experimental, and we learned things. Next timethe face shouldn't suck so much.

The museum has been open since shortly after his death and will now never be open again.
As a fan, I am very sad to see this happen. I feel as though hide is going to be stricken from our memories in this action. So, to show my support for a great musical artist, I made this.
It's not much, but I wanted to let people know, we won't forget. Those of us who have kept hide in our hearts all this time, we won't let this callous act shut him out. We won't forget.

Not what I originally intended, but it works regardless. The upside ofeverything was that I actually finished hours ahead of schedule.Happiness was had by all.
As the title implies, this is me. To get a couple questions I am oftenasked out of the way: Yes, the tattoo is really there, and really real.Yes, my eyes are really that blue; they aren't contacts.
This isn't meant to be a completely photographic rendering of me. Ifyou know me, it clearly looks like me, but I went for a slightlystylized version of myself. I went for light, airy, dreamy, and aboveall else, that sort of style that a lot of European women were paintedin before the Renaissance. I can't remember the stylization name, butwhere the women's features were slightly enhances. Think bigger eyes. And that's what I went for here.
This was a pain in the buns really. There are some really good thingsabout it and some not so good. At least, in my picky picky mind ofdoom. Overall though, I am happy.

I decided to try something a little different this time with my realism. I went for a more simplified and idealized version of the original subject. In a way it's supposed to be less how he actually is, and more how I see him. I also tried to achieve a sort of positive/negative balance by using his hair as a background element. I am exhausted and so done with it. This is my final project for Digital Illustration.

Alright, well, there was a very specific purpose behind this piece. I made it with a contest in mind. The point of the contest to make a sort of kakejiku, which is a Japanese ceremonial banner celebrating Spring. As most of you should know, the Vernal Equinox was just a couple of days ago, so this was a good time for this. :)

The other point of the contest was to include Gackt in it somewhere.

Now, for my assignment we were supposed to do a gradient mesh. A gradient mesh uses a whole bunch of points on a grid to make a more realistic appearance. It's fairly difficult to explain, so let's just say that Gackt was done with a gradient mesh. You can see what the framework looks like here. I tried to give Gackt a realistic, but slightly idealistic and etheral feel. I'm fairly happy with the result.

And then the choice of flowers was a choice made with Spring in mind. Both the irises and cherry blossoms are spring time plants.

Alright, I'll stop blabbing about it now. ^^; It is complete.
It hungers; and craves fresh blood. The moon rises high, and full. The stars glimmer brightly. It is midnight, and nothing can save you from your nightmare.

That's right, it's complete. Egged on by nearly everyone I know, I pretty much put everything aside to finish this. And surprisingly, it went quite quickly.

Weeks ago I was inspired greatly by this deliciously creepy song, titled "Mitternacht". Mitternacht is German for midnight, and this picture grew in my mind as a result of it. Alucard has always been the epitome of terrifying. He's the source of the chill down your spine, the goosebumps on your arm. The beginning and end to all fear. Glorious.

This had a couple people looking at me funny, but I admittedly liked it. I normally draw beautiful and lovely light things. It was nice to do something significantly different. Understand that this is not my natural state, and is therefore a little foreign to me. I did my best with that. :)

I'd also like to point out one thing, before I get swamped with comments about it.

I'm sure it's common knowledge that vampires require blood for sustenance. Well, I have always learned that blood is more than just sustenance, but the source of their existance. After a vampire had fed, he or she would appear the most alive they ever would; his or her skin would fill out, making them more fleshy, and they would not be so pale, but almost flushed. As it is clear now, I have portrayed Alucard after a wonderful meal, therefore he is not gaunt but full cheeked, and not pale but full of colour. This was done on purpose, so please don't tell me it's not right.

I have worked very hard on this one, and feel fairly proud of it. I may still go back and touch up a few things, but otherwise cannot and will not change it.
