I might've rushed it and made her hair too dark. Ah, well. Now to get some rest!]]>Friendly foxes by RaggleTaggleGypsyurn:uuid:3dc6dae5-f067-b698-1300-c52dcb8653b52016-02-23T23:56:05-08:00Watercolour sketch. Background is pretty "naive" as it was quickly done for practice.]]>Paper mache cat Christmas tree bauble/ornament by RaggleTaggleGypsyurn:uuid:c71de6e5-794b-9910-673e-56c79a8ab4872015-10-25T16:43:41-07:00Made with paper mache, acrylic paint, sharpie, hanging ribbon and varnish.
I know it's only October! :P But I just finished making him/her today, in advance for Christmas sales.]]>African Grey Parrot by RaggleTaggleGypsyurn:uuid:aabd1e49-810f-c6e6-de09-1af980ab7f0e2015-10-21T18:49:59-07:00Abstract(ish) oil painting. Started off painting from a photo of a red grey on the outside of their cage (hence why there's no feet!), but then I decided to paint the background abstract instead.
When I painted the background, I just thought about how frustrating being in a cage must be. Gave the bird a little blue 'smile' to highlight the way parrots always look happy due to not having mouths.]]>Track of Time by RaggleTaggleGypsyurn:uuid:4894f065-eaf4-c46c-c41c-95123c969c712015-10-13T00:45:48-07:00Part of an oil painting I actually did in 2010.
This was before I knew I wanted to be an artist. I just quit a vet care course and felt pretty low.
Went to sleep while listening to John Frusciante's 'Time Tonight'. I imagined a baron landscape, tall thin dead looking leafless trees springing up from the ground, owls/pigeons flying slowly across the sky as the moon kept going down and raising back up along with the songs tempo. Vicious race dogs which represented the hours were later drifting all over the place.
Once I woke up - all I wanted to do was paint! It shows how even sad or angry music can uplift both the listener and the musician. This is why the hummingbird is yellow, the guitar is blue and scratchboard is red.
The waves represent vibrations.]]>Recoloured Money Spider by RaggleTaggleGypsyurn:uuid:cbf11bf9-9c56-39c9-bc40-fde27c2230262015-10-04T16:11:17-07:00I increased the cyan levels in PhotoShop for this one. If you see my gallery, this was originally a more realistic blue + orange watercolour sketch.
This was one of my favorite recolours (although I ultimately opted for a green and purple spider for the particular poster I was making this for *sigh*).]]>Money Spider Closeup Detail Sketch by RaggleTaggleGypsyurn:uuid:4d905cc4-bd57-2f9f-d6a1-9c9190e607d12015-10-04T16:11:15-07:00Scanned picture of a money spider I sketched a while ago. I edited it into many different colours to use for a graphics project poster. It was originally watercolour and pencil.
I enjoyed drawing him/her. It was interesting to see some money spiders really are blue + orange up close. I also never appreciated the cross markings on some of them until I started drawing one.
Might upload just one of the Photoshop recolours into my gallery, too.]]>Tom Joad The Grapes of Wrath (Portrayed by Henry Fonda) by RaggleTaggleGypsyurn:uuid:62b8732b-62c7-dcf3-19e8-941c40bb75452015-10-04T16:11:10-07:00This is from the old classic black and white Fox movie 'The Grapes of Wrath' (based on Steinbeck's book)
I used an actual photo of Henry Fonda as Tom Joad in this (I usually like to draw still shots). But if there's one thing I liked about Fonda, it was that far away stare he always had on his face. Made you wonder what he was thinking. So I couldn't help but use this photo which is used on most DVD cases and movie posters.
I worry his eyes look a little 'bongy'! When Andy risked his life and was almost murdered by the prison gaurd, all for the sake of getting his friends some beer.
Tim Robbins as Andy Dufresne & Clancy Brown as Capt Byron T Hadley.]]>
