Drawn to Life: Woeful Wilfre

Description

EDIT: Decided to alter the colours using GIMP. In retrospect, the blue background was a mistake. You can still see the old one in scraps if you want.

"Ow ow ow! What?! No!!! This cannot be!"

Thus spake Wilfre, moments before biting the dust in the final battle of Drawn to Life.
A not-so-subtle portrayal of "he who lives by the sword dies by it", or just an opportunity to shove a great big sword up a villain's backside?

Drawn with a 0.3 mechanical pencil, inked with 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5 drawing pens, background coloured with dry watercolour pencils. The mouth was shaded with B, B2 and B4 pencils. Comments welcome! :)

wow. i almost felt its suffering! aww. poor pokemon. i love the background! what kind of colored pencils do you use? coz they seem to have really nice effects. not like mine, which are only the the cheap faber castel ones. :))

I use Derwent Aquatone water soluble pencils. They can be used either on their own like regular colouring pencils, or like watercolours if you add water afterwards. I prefer not to use water, though, as it dilutes the colours too much.
Occasionally I use ordinary cheap colouring pencils but I find the leads break too easily. Your work would look amazing whatever you use. :)

Sorry to mention this, but Wilfre's not a Pokemon, he's a Raposa from the game Drawn to Life... although he does look quite a bit like a Dark type Pokemon...

ohh.. i also have water soluble colored pencils that my aunt gave me and like you, i also don't use them in "WATERCOLOR STYLE" mainly because i'm still getting used to watercolors and i always find myself not liking the artworks i do in watercolor. but i'd really really really love to learn watercolor painting.

IM sorry i thhought wilfire was a pokemon. stupid moi. :P

I'm not too good with watercolours either, but that might be because I haven't painted anything in years...

Easy to think Wilfre's a Pokemon, since nearly all of my most recent pics have been Pokemon-related... ^^

Your pictures don't suck at all... your style's just different to mine. I'm glad you liked the blood effect though, it was worth it after all.

I'm not so sure if this justifies such a high violence rating, considering there's no blood or anything, only shadows...

Nice picture though! Also nice to see something that isn't a pokemon XD

Perhaps, I wasn’t sure about this one, so in the end I decided to play it safe and rate it “High”. Funny you should mention blood, I nearly ended up adding some, I’d got the red ink bottle out and everything, but eventually decided I’d leave it black and blue instead.

This is one of the non-Pokemon pics I’ve been meaning to “get round to doing”… I remember coming up with the idea for this one back in late 2007. It’s nice to have finally finished it.
