Hmm... actually, I saw the colored version but I like this one better. Maybe it was the linework around the shoulders but the wings on the colored version struck me as being 'glued on'.<br /><br />
My only complaint about this one is that the way you drew his back legs doesn't jive with the rest of the pic -- his back feet imply "sitting" where his front feet clearly say "standing".<br />

I really like the way you did this guy's wings (structurally true, reasonably detailed), and I also like how you attached the wings behind the shoulders instead of directly above them (the traditional position). He may not be your traditional gryphonesque critter but he's well done, and the thought & effort you put into him, I'm faving this.

I totally love this. I need to work more on my animal techniques. Did you get some inspiration from the Lion King technique for lions?
