ID: #853195
Stratadrake on February 24, 2017, 5:47:47 PM
StratadrakeAh, yes, I remember processing that one.  The description seemed a little odd at first, that's why I gave it closer scrutiny.  And you did say "done by my gf" implying she was the one who produced the drawing, right?
thingy on February 24, 2017, 5:57:35 PM
thingyshe drew it and i edit it as a team as in we upload together as one
its team art
i have been on this site for years now XD i mean no harm just doing my job as bf and posting with her even if she drew it and i edited
some camera men have editors and editors post on there sites as refs to
i feel so unloved by you sometimes XD
Stratadrake on February 25, 2017, 5:30:24 PM
StratadrakeUltimately, the fact is we don't have a policy on the matter of group/shared accounts.  At all.  It's uncharted territory for us; the implied rule has always been that FAC accounts are personal (limit one user) accounts and this kind of issue has basically never been raised or discussed before.  (By the way, thanks for taking time to discuss this.)

But a general rule of thumb (from our perspective) is, if you're allowed to upload work created by basically anyone, how is that different from any other image-hosting site?

thingy on February 25, 2017, 5:42:25 PM
thingyno rudeness but thats kinda bull crap cake making up the most dump stuff just to be right
Battou on February 25, 2017, 6:17:20 PM
BattouUm....No, that has been in the ToS for years, Strata isn't making anything up simply to be right. Fact of the matter here is the matter of shared accounts and actually Strata is mistaken and this has been discussed on one previous occasion many years ago. One of the primary debated elements was the fact of abuse potential. Sudden shifts in user style and skill level is one of the preliminary flags in abuse checks on this site. Having a user with regular shifts in style will cause issues with our screening process. Another issue is...well....the event of a break up. Yeah, that produces a plethora of problems with shared accounts so I am not going to go into details on that one. As for display of familial imagery, like things drawn by siblings, spouses ect who do not have accounts, it was decided many years ago that this was not permissible and that cases like that, the creating artist should create an account of their own.

However, there are concessions in the ToS for collaboration works which is what this event sounds like. Collaboration works are permitted however they need to be appropriately credited along with documentation of what part the submitting user played in the creation of the work. In this case the description simply states "above art done by my gf " which constitutes work done by another artist under the ToS and is not permissible.

Long and short, you need to document collaborations clearly in the description box provided.

Stratadrake on February 25, 2017, 6:39:24 PM
StratadrakeBattou and I sometimes joke that I'm the "good cop" and he's the "bad cop".

But yeah, I agree that it's never a bad idea to take a break from a conversation and let things cool off.

XD
Stratadrake on February 25, 2017, 6:15:44 PM
StratadrakeAs a site, it is our right and privilege to set rules for what we will or will not allow for submission.  And the core underlying rules for our submission policy (the wording of which may be outdated, but nontheless) have basically never changed: Your work only, no photos, no porn, cite specific sources as used.
thingy on February 25, 2017, 6:31:51 PM
thingyi dont do porn stuff XD maybe ops up some times to time but guys don't forget i am just human like you are

i put this up years ago cuz my bro asked me to and you guys didn't say no back then so whats up
Stratadrake on February 25, 2017, 6:10:16 PM
StratadrakeI don't have any information about that piece, for all I know it was not actually processed by site staff.

However, in the case of #853195 I can verify it was held for review based on the category you submitted it to (Tutorials).  I would have rejected it for that reason alone (but with the ability to resubmit), however I got confused as I read the description.

thingy on February 25, 2017, 6:16:00 PM
thingycan i do a contest on here like the old days or is that a no too ? i would love to get people on here again and make this place really cool
btw i did want to thank you and your other staff people incase you didn't know this is where i found my gf and we live together now so
thats why i love this site so much fac made my dream gf come true <3
Stratadrake on February 25, 2017, 6:19:08 PM
StratadrakeWhy do you think contests might not be allowed?  Users are always free to post ideas for other users to compete over.  Our forum layout has always included a section for this (though, due to IPv6 related bugs not everyone can necessarily access the forums).
thingy on February 25, 2017, 6:24:56 PM
thingyomg yay but would you guys host it on the main blog thing on homepage ? i have a idea in my head for the other sites i belong to even youtube

DezzyHey Strata...my Username used to be Vhee and I've come back@ Problem is I can't login to the forums. I get this:

StratadrakeUnfortunately this is a known bug in the forums coding and we simply have no fix.  It seems related to users browsing from an IPv6 address (which you seem to be).  The forum software is supposed to be IPv6 aware, but it's really coded around IPv4 and from the SQL dump you may notice it is attempting to log an IPv6 address in a field intended exclusively for IPv4.
Dezzy on January 20, 2017, 5:27:12 PM
DezzyAnd how do I fix this?
Stratadrake on January 23, 2017, 4:22:38 PM
StratadrakeOne option is: you might be able to configure your wireless adapter to only use IPv4 protocols (most routers are configured to use both).

StratadrakeIt depends on the original image that was edited -- e.g. there is no rule against editing something YOU created yourself -- your work your right to do that.

This being said, editing/plaigarizing an image that was taken off somebody else's work (especially commercial work, such as anime/cartoons/etc.) is definitely not allowed here, but if you are going to report a user then we need to be able to identify the source material that was borrowed/edited from.
SailorSeiyaDigiJem on January 8, 2017, 4:14:31 PM
SailorSeiyaDigiJemOkay, I understood. I will stop bothering him.
Stratadrake on January 8, 2017, 9:11:51 PM
StratadrakeIn the meantime, I have made a private staff topic to discuss the user with our other admin.  I have removed your other comments on this thread but don't worry, they are still there (and as an admin I can still see them).
SailorSeiyaDigiJem on January 9, 2017, 3:10:24 PM

Lulu1988Hey this is Angel88 I had to create a new account because my old account got erased or deleted or whatever I don't know but I would like to know why my account was deleted or erased
Lulu1988 on December 27, 2016, 12:58:02 PM
Lulu1988I was trying to login to post some more pictures I did and it keep telling me that this page has been deleted or band I never got a notice about my artwork being banned before
Stratadrake on December 27, 2016, 4:37:05 PM
StratadrakeWell, it does not appear to be an explicit ban, but I don't have any further information.
Lulu1988 on December 28, 2016, 11:24:10 AM
Lulu1988So there's nothing you can do to get back my account
Stratadrake on December 29, 2016, 6:30:16 PM
StratadrakeUnfortunately, no, we don't have any tools built to do that.
ajsuper on November 9, 2016, 10:42:50 AM
ajsuperhey how do you upload some art..
Stratadrake on November 9, 2016, 1:00:20 PM
StratadrakeWhen you are logged in (and you are), near the upper right corner of the screen, next to your username and avvie there is a button labelled 'submit'.  Hover over it to see the options.  Note that our submission process is designed with desktops/laptops (keyboard and mouse) in mind and as such may not necessarily be tablet/smartphone compatible.
MrSquiggles1993 on November 5, 2016, 12:02:16 PM
MrSquiggles1993Hello I'm new here. I have uploaded a Drawing & it still pending approval, this is taking a whole day now what is wrong with it?

Stratadrake on November 5, 2016, 6:48:37 PM
StratadrakeNaturally, the approval panel relies on FAC staff actively reviewing it from time to time.  We currently have just two users doing this (myself and Battou), and between us we probably review it maybe 5-6 times a week.  So while we can generally process something within the same day, sometimes things pile up for longer before we review the queue.

For your submission #852086, I've processed it for now but I will warn that image files exceeding certain sizes (such as width, height, and/or total megapixels) are always held for manual review by AP staff, even if it would otherwise have been processed automatically.  And while the exact threshold varies depending on the nature of the image, who is on duty (and how lenient we feel) at the time, in general, if your image file exceeds 4-5 megapixels you can expect to receive a rejection message about it.

Generally speaking, it is not good practice to submit original-full-resolution scans/photos of your artwork to the Internet -- you should keep those on your personal storage (local backup or private cloud storage) and compile secondary copies that have been resized smaller so that they can be viewed at 100% size on a typical display resolution (usually less than 2000px wide).
MrSquiggles1993 on November 7, 2016, 6:20:38 PM
MrSquiggles1993Oh okay I understand now.
Whoops, I didn't know that was a big one. I thought I put the small one up, sorry about that.
Next time I'll make a small one.
SailorSeiyaDigiJem on August 26, 2016, 2:11:38 PM
SailorSeiyaDigiJemHey! How come Ajsuper can't post his artworks on FanArt-Central?
Stratadrake on August 27, 2016, 5:49:29 PM
StratadrakeI actually do not know what you're talking about.  I just checked the queue and there was nothing from him on it...

SailorSeiyaDigiJem on August 30, 2016, 8:39:00 AM
SailorSeiyaDigiJemSorry to bother you. I guess he don't know how to submit his artworks to Fanart-Central.
