All right Version 4 of Aliana in her dragon form and I am still unhappy with the result I got. So onto Version 5.0 and let's pray this time it comes out the way I want it to. The body came out the way I wanted it to, more raptor/t-rex like in posture and I love the shading on this one.

Things I need to work on.....
1. More work needs to be done on the hands
2. Legs need some more work.
3. Wings are to small, not capable of flight like this.
KFelidaeAs far as the feet being placed directly under the hips, if a man were to try this, he'd fall flat on his face. But a creature with a long, stiff balancing tail, however... Think of the hips as being the balance point on a ballpoint pen. The cap makes one end heavier, so you offset your finger a bit to balance it out.

StratadrakeThe raptorlike stance is cool, but like you said, the legs need more work. Me, I'd say that it's actually the feet that need more work more than just the legs in general. She feels awfully off-balance with her feet standing directly beneath the hips like that. Maybe that's one reason why the digitigrade stance (i.e. feet the same length as ankles/hips and with only the toes touching ground) is so popular with reptiles.

There's one other piece of advice I can give. How do you start a sketch? If you bang out the posture with something simple like a stick figure, and then begin working the detail from there, the results are generally more consistent than if you just start sketching the actual outlines first.

I also notice those two claws behind her, are they part of her right (far) wing? One tip with wings is that creatures generally hold both wings at equal, symmetrical angles.

I do see the additional shading layered in with the scales and that helps! A little more contrast with the shading couldn't hurt though, the shading on the legs helps them feel rounder but the tail could use a bit of that too, it feels flat by comparison.

Still, nice job with the character, especially with regards to the previous incarnations.
