Most Tifa fanartists, including myself (http://www.fanart-central.net/pictures.php?pid=136181), usually forget that she got sliced wide open as a girl by Sephiroth. That had to leave a mark, healing items or not. And that's why her costume's neckline is so high.
And why probably 99.9% of all the hentai pix of her are wrong, too.

In any case, the fact that Tifa was holding the blade may be the reason she wasn't slashed.
And don't bother with the game script. As you said, Last Order is a retcon. It now overrides the game regarding what it depicted on screen. In it, we see Tifa did not actually suffer cuts, being physically flung away from Sephiroth instead.
BTW, don't just act like it's a purely japanese trait to ignore continuity. Ever heard of Star Trek? Course you have. It's BAD with continuity. REALLY bad.

So no, I have no "absolute proof" until someone gets ahold of translations of the original game plan and script. Bet it says she got slashed. And plus the Japanese are notorious for ignoring their stories' continuity when it suits them -- ever tried to reconcile all the Gundam series? Tricky if not impossible.
