Evidence of a Sad End

When Inu-Yasha's group comes to the Taijiya Village in search for some answers about the Shikon no Tama, it also returns Sesshomaru to the scene of a tragedy. To their shock, they watch as he actually approaches the petrified figure within the grotesque stalagmite, and, in a strangely tender move, puts a hand over the place where her heart should have been.

"The reason I had sought all of that strength...was because of the death of this person....Someone I was too weak to save." Sesshomaru murmurs, almost too softly for Inu-Yasha to hear.

"But how could you have known her, Sesshomaru? She must've died a long time before even you were born!" Inu-Yasha states; stunned when the Taiyoukai gives him a sad smile.

"Oh, I existed, all right....But I was too young and inexperienced to make much of a difference." Sesshomaru replies, before nodding to Sango, and allowing her to begin her explanation.
