Painted in oils on cardboard.

recycled cardboard primed with three layers of gesso.

I used the glaze technique;
many "layers" of transparent colours.
It gives depth to the painting. :-)

Looks nice! I guess I've already heard of these cakes during a French class yet in high school, when we learnt about the Alsace-Lorraine region.

Yeah, unfortunately :D The same was with Macaron, that I still haven't tried yet :(
However, the Brioche is very common at us, especially the one with sugar on its top, and sometimes the one with poppy seeds on it.

Some time ago, I tried this kind of sweets when they were sold at local supermarket.

People from Lorraine surely know, how to bake good pastry, don't they ? :)

Fantastic shading and highlights! I've never heard of, nor have tried Madeleines before. They look really good just based on you pic of them alone.

Macarons were totally unknown in the US.
Then some girls from films, (like Sex in the city) stuffed themselves with macarons, day in, day out.
And then it was the new trendy desert.... :D
