Silver: A Sketchpage Tribute (1996)

Another really old drawing, done sometime back in my junior year at high school, aka 1996-1997. While I never used my sketchbook on a regular basis, I did occasionally (somewhat grudgingly, in fact) use it for drawing. This was one of them, my sister's old cat, Silver.<br />

Silver was a round Siamese male, off-white with orange ears and tail. The oldest cat we ever had, he was a survivor, living through a bite by the neighbor's dog, a few scrapes by automobiles, us moving from Portland to Tillamook in 1990, and peeing on an electrical outlet (and boy, did that one stink!). He was a little territorial when we adopted two friend's cats (both males), and would regularly get into fights with them. Later, when we adopted two strays (both females), one calico ("Zelda") and another siamese ("Whiskers"), he liked them both, even though Whiskers never liked the old geezer.<br />

Silver died sometime this last winter, hit by a car. But at an old age of about 14 years, he lived to be the oldest cat we've ever had.<br />
