October, 2000: My third attempt at drawing dragons using a distinct elemental theme, these are the dragons for Air and Thunder.
Designed to appear in a story I've worked on, they are not simply dragons but more like physical avatars for higher beings. Technically "it"s, but Thundros is considered a "he" and Aquilia is considered a "she". And just as the elements of air and thunder are paired together, so too are these dragons considered mates. According to the story legends, Aquilia was in fact the mother of the Sky Dragon race, and Thundros its father....
Medium: Colored & 0.7mm pencil, plus minor cleanup on computer
Time: About three hours

Ooh! Thats neat! I really like the Gryphon like one! Great detail on the feathers!
