Summer, 2000. For fun and comparison, I drew seven species of dragon-creatures out on the same page, all to approximately the same scale. Like several of the drawings I made during this time, I completed this on the back of an old school handout; some of which scanned through from the other side, requiring me to clean it up a little on computer. The species, as shown, are of the Fire, Ice, Water, Sky, and White dragons ("true" dragons); as well as a wyvern and drake ("semi" dragons). Barely visible at the top is a ruler relating the creatures' size in scale feet. My dragons aren't much higher than a normal human when sitting down.

Looking back, I can tell this was before I had given feathered wings any real study. Also, this was the first drawing employing the larger, more decorative tailspades. All my dragons beforehand had tiny tailspade designs (small enough they could hold it in one paw) with barely any distinction between the species, but starting at this point, I made their tailspades much larger and more pronounced -- formiddable weapons, they are.

This drawing remains yet another one of my old personal faves. It's also virtually the only time I've ever drawn a wyvern.

Medium: Colored & 0.7mm pencil
Time: About three hours
Scale: 55px/in

KFelidaeNeat! Your ability to create many different species still amazes me. I, too, like the two little ones in the corner - so cute!<br />

My only comlaint is that the water (?) dragon's legs don't seem to be angled correctly to support his center of gravity. The feet should always line up directly under the knees.
