This was a project for Art 206 ("Art History") back in Spring Term of 2002. This painting is of a creature I call 'saericans', similar to a dracan except for their transparent wings. I haven't decided much about this species aside from their appearance -- in fact, they were more of an exercise at subject matter and an experiment with the media than anything else. I think I'll stick to my set of colored pencils and blank paper for drawing and leave the paintings to those who prefer them.

Medium: "Fresco" (dye painted on a ceramic tile covered in a wet sand/lye mixture)
Time: About one hour
Scale: 75px/in

I am also thankful that the dried sand mixture did not damage the scanner glass.

KFelidaeI have no idea how you could sit still long enough to do this fresco style. I'd have gone insane sitting down to one picture for so long. But it seemed to be worth it! Nice tones on this one! Orange/red/brown always make good colours for dragon-types. And those wings- ! Do I count right? Six pair? Hmm!
My one nitpick is that the left leg is set down at a direct angle to the viewer. It seems strange, as the critter itself is nowhere near having its' back to us. It seems to limit the picture.
