This was my submission to Udon's Darkstalker Tribute contest. Unfortunately it was not picked to go in the book, which is due out in a couple of months. I spent about a month and a half drawing it, so hopefully that kinda shows. Of course it's Felicia and Demitry, and Demitry's living Spawn-like cape which never existed in the games, but I felt like drawing it that way anyway.

EDIT: Wow, awesome! Thanks for the feature guys, I really appreciate it and the kind words!

nomar42woah! hey is that guy wearing any pants? 0_o

mallaardHeh heh, yes he's wearing pants, but if you've ever seen the original art of him, they look like they're painted on, so it barely matters. He's probably got the most pronounced package in all of video games.

LoveYouHateMeMy god.
your hatching and stippling are spot on.
such great pensmenship.
may i ask what kind of pens you use?
and what size tip?

mallaard on May 8, 2009, 8:18:11 PM

mallaard on
mallaardFor this it was all 0.1, 0.3, and 0.7 pigment liner pens. I used to be fond of the 0.05 size tips, but they're really hard to find, and to be honest you rarely need to make a line that thin anyway, unless you're drawing on postage stamps.

LoveYouHateMeI have about 5 0.05 sized pens.
but i have never used them.
I mainly use 0.5 for most of my art.
I havent used ink in a while though..

luckylace222D; WHHHAA! The shading the shading!!! it's fabulous! WOW! It must have taken you a long time to do all those different tonings! I'm amazed! ;P You have great penmanship!

mallaardWhy thank you! That's one of the major elements I was focusing on in this drawing, how to better control my toning. I came across some nice tricks that can combine hatching with stippling to break up the linework and create greater tonal range while still keeping the lines to describe the form. Pure stippling is probably best for total control of tone, but it lacks the ability to direct the eye around the form like consistent hatching has.

KintoJudging by the size of her breasts I'd say its a well drawn picture.

mallaard on April 11, 2009, 10:05:57 AM

mallaard on
mallaardOf course, I spent five and a half weeks just drawings the breasts! The rest I just threw together at the last minute to sort of frame them. My mistake was in drawing all this other crap, it's distracting your eyes from the boobs. Glad you like it!
