Chapter 1 - Introduction

Intro

This is where I take my highly odd imagination and mix it with my lack of an actual life. I shall be delving into apparent `second meanings to episodes' and (later on) I'll be looking into why Vicky acts the way she does.

But remember- the whole cartoon is just that- a cartoon. There is no way any of this is probably true so just take the whole show at face value- lest you end up like me.

If you are interested in any particular character, just send me a comment and say which one (I expecting that requests for Cosmo analyses are going to be among the majority) and if you want any particular episode, I'll see what I can do- but I haven't seen them all.

The thing that got me hooked to FOP, like so many other fangirls, is firstly because I fell in love with Timmy, Chip Skylark, Vicky and Crocker; plus the music, humour and Jorgen. But after seeing a whole bunch of episodes I started watching re-runs of a couple of episodes and looked a little closer. It took me a little while before I realised hat the whole cartoon was about a little boy whose parents, although they loved him very much, weren't very negligent half the time and left him with an incredibly abusive teenager while they went out. The little boy, after becoming angry and frustrated, was blessed with understanding, caring fairy godparents who proceeded to protect him from the abuse, or at least make it a whole lot easier to deal with.

It took a while, but it hit me like a brick. Whether or not the whole thing was intentional, the whole cartoon was a sort of NSPCC advert cleverly disguised as a very good television show.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again though- the whole thing probably isn't intentional. Instead of being a watered down story of abuse, it is probably a great exaggeration of normal living- I mean who hasn't had an unfair babysitter at some time in their life?

So yeah, I'm probably too morbid, but I still think the whole `extra thread' is interesting anyway.

Oh, and before you start, did you know that Wand was originally going to be called Venus? And the whole show was almost not going to include her at all- having it just being about Timmy and Cosmo as a male parody of Cinderella, I got that info off an interview in a magazine!
