Why hello there, you've found the Elite OC List.

It is run by DawnyaBURN and TEK.

--

This is an account created because we, among other people, were fed up with the piles of bullshoot people on FAC have been passing off as fanmade characters. And so, this is a list put up for all the actually good characters out there on FAC. But if you're like most of the members of FAC, you're probably confused. So lets explain the term "Elite OC":

Elite:
Adjective
1. Selected as the best.

OC:
Noun
1. Character created from one's own imagination to be fitted into the story of another person.

Yes I made that last one up shut up I know what I'm talking about here. So there you have it. An "Elite OC" is, basically, a really good OC. And again you're probably confused. What makes a good OC? Well, that is called "originality," and I can't tell you how to do that. But I can sum up what you SHOULDN'T do in one good, long description. Now hold on tight and read this wall of text:

Your character shouldn't be a Mary Sue/Gary Stue.
If you don't know what a Mary Sue is, I can almost guaruntee that you don't have a good character on your hands. I've only seen ONE example EVER where someone didn't know what it was and still had a pretty good character, and don't think that that'll happen to YOU. So, here's the description of a Mary Sue, in easy-to-read sections:

1. Automatically pairing them with a character from the show/story they are created for.
-- Most of the time this is the dead giveaway for a Mary Sue. This is when you create a character and then make them the boyfriend/girlfriend of a character from the show, ignoring any and all factors that say that IT DOES NOT WORK. Adding to that statement, creating a character solely to be another's soulmate and fixing their personality to perfectly fit the other character perfectly is also the way of the Suemaker. Saying a show character has a crush on your character, also Mary Suing.
2. Inconsistent personality.
-- Another dead giveaway. Say you've made your character a BAD GHAI. She's MEAN, she's LEAN, and she will KICK ANYONE'S @$$ THAT SHE SO PLEASES. But you've had it planned that you want to get her paired with someone else. So you're roleplaying, she's walking around being a dog like usual, and then she meets the guy you want to pair her with. Suddenly she's SPEECHLESS. Her dog charade is over and suddenly she'll do ANYTHING for this guy, no matter how his reaction to her is. He can walk away in mid sentence and she'll forgive him and follow him like a puppy. He can throw an explosive at her and she'll squeal and act like it's a gift. He can strap her to a bomb and send her to space and she'll die declaring her unexplained love for him. IT IS NOT ROMANTIC. IT IS STUPID. THAT IS ALL.
3. Recolors/Color edits.
-- Recoloring/color editing is where you take a screenshot, hop into MSpaint or whatother program, slap on a few new colors and declare this your new original character. STOP THERE. You are wrong. This is not originality, you have not created an original character. You have regurgitated an existing one. Congratulations.
4. Relating your OC to a show character.
-- Unless it's a situation where MANY of unnamed siblings are in existence and you decide to give one of them a name and face, this is also Mary Sue behavior. Long lost sibling? Mary Sue. Child of two existing show characters? Mary Sue. Parent? Sue. Also, going against what the story has said to make your character related. Taking Naruto as an example, I see many fan characters that are Uchihas, despite the fact that Itachi KILLED all of the Uchihas. "Well my character is the one other survivor!" NO. THEY ARE NOT. Everyone but Sasuke DIED.
5. Physical Appearance.
-- Oh ho ho, have I got alot to say on this one. Starting with girls, this girl is most likely stick thin with shakin' round hips and a perfect rack. Hit the nail on the head there? Her eyes are most likely blue, green, or red. She's described as gorgeous, beautiful, yadda yadda. Basically the epitome of hawtness with no flaws. And no, cliche scars are not FLAWS. As for guys, he's also probably got a flawless body with a handsome face and blah blah blah. But you don't see many Gary Stues, hell, any male characters in general, so there's not much I say about that.
6. Strength/Powers.
-- Alrighty, you got your stick thin sexy as hell girl and she's in trouble. Someone's about to beat up on her. Suddenly, despite her lack of muscle, she's Wonder Woman. That being said, a character who, in fighting, beats everyone, always wins, rarely gets hurt, is not stopped by otherwise DEADLY wounds, has no weaknesses other than "their loved ones in danger ohnoes" and is basically GOD, is quite Mary Suish. Or maybe your character is in peril, bleeding profusely (cause y'know ALL the cool kids bleed profusely.) and then LADADADAAA~, sudden hidden power activates, she's healed, beats the one that put her in this situation in the first place, and so on and so forth. Yeahno. This is just annoying.
7. Personality.
-- This, along with the history, makes or breaks a character. There are usually two extremes for personality. The perky, happy one who is optimistic 100% of the time no matter what happens or who does what yadda yadda. Say she's raped, then the next day she's back to normal, no deep internal conflict. Or the extremely depressed person. This person has supposedly seen the worst/done the worst/lived through the worst and is now the biggest emofag you will ever lay eyes on. They stare at everyone and don't do anything but think 'If only I could have friends...', are constantly afraid that no one will accept them, their sentences end in three dots almost 98% of the time and no matter how painful their past is, upon first meeting another character they will break down into an emotional fit of tears and whine. Then they are accepted by someone and BAM, all their internal conflicts are solved. Not original, it's old and busted... Yeah.
8. History.
-- The other factor that makes or breaks a character. See, your typical Mary Sue has a horrible past. Beaten, raped, parents died, killed people, abandoned... The list goes on and on, often to the point where it's just unreasonable. And just about all of the time, the character ends up like either of the extremes above. Some people like to feel extra creative and jack off the history of another character, probably one from another show, and just use that. Nice try but no dice.

AND THAT, MY FRIENDS, is pretty much all I have to say on describing Mary Sues. If you said yes to any of these, then don't get discouraged yet. A character can have flaws but still be redeemed by their good qualities. The only way to really know is to apply. Offended people are probably going "What, so we're ALL supposed to listen to what TWO PEOPLE THINK?" But listen. We've both been in the fandom universe for a REALLY frackING LONG TIME, we've seen alot, and we've had first hand experience with bad characters. We know what we're talking about here. Hell, we've both had our share of Mary Sues before we finally wised up and started fixing them up.

So, to apply, please fill out this form and leave it as a comment on this page. BE AS DESCRIPTIVE AS POSSIBLE. And yes, we'll go exploring your gallery and reading your stories to find out more.

Character's full name:

Personality:
Powers/Abilities:
Physical Description:

Please be patient, we're both busy busy but we will get to you eventually. If your character is a Mary Sue, we will tell you the problems specifically, in the order that they go by above. If your character is not a Mary Sue, then you get on the list. Yaaaay the LIST.

Offended people are probably still like "WHY the HELL would I want to be on a LIST?" Well one, it's a symbol that you're a good character maker and your character is original and deserves respect. Two, you get a trophy to put on your profile. Well, a picture of a trophy. Not exactly a trophy. Just a picture that says that your character is on the list and is therefore awesome. Yes, it will be customized. ;3

Now, here's THE LIST.

THE LIST
-----
none yet lol. :C

So that's all for the Elite OC List. Confused? Leave a comment or talk to us directly on our own profiles. :]

FaustXIIII'll support you guys all the way. ^^

Name: Amaya 'Kusari' (Her last name is to be mentioned later in the fanfic)
Series: Naruto
Personality: Amaya's quite withdrawn. She watches people calmly and acts completely unattached. But, she is a deeply caring person, she just hates to reveal her inner weakness. She doesn't smile very often and is rather serious, but when you tell a good joke, she'll laugh along with you. Her temper is incredibly short; she'll beat the hell outta anyone who gets on her nerves.
Powers/abilities: She is an incredibly powerful warrior. Her strength is completely unique and she takes her training to the extreme. Her chakra control is ahead of her age group. She is also ambidextrous and has specialties in manipulating sand (training in Sunagakure) and fire (Konohagakure). Not to mention, she has a form of demon sealed inside of her.
Physical description: Amaya looks like a boy, to say the least. She has pretty powerful arms and legs, and incredibly messy hair. Her eyes are extremely dark and piercing and her hair is raven black. As for breasts, she's pretty flat-chested.
History: Amaya's mother had died after birth, due to a rare condition. The day of her birth, a demon escaped a prison in an artifact, and a newborn child was needed (kinda like Naruto, but this demon was stronger). The demon was sealed away by all of the kages combined, leaving marks of their clans over her body. At the age of six, her father was killed in front of her by a trained assasin. A close friend of her mother's whisked Amaya away to Sunagakure. For eight years, Amaya trained in the intense heat of the desert. At the age of thirteen, she faced the worst challenge of her life. She had to face a demonic being, simply known as Chimimaru, just to save her friend. Several curse seals were broken that day and her strength increased. At the age of fifteen, she left Sunagakure to qualify as a kunoichi in the home of her father; Konoha. (and that's where the story starts)
Paired with/crushed on by: ... Well, she crushes on the character. He's the son of the Kazekage (at that time, Gaara), by the name of Sabaku.
Faults: too many. I find most of her past to be a little awful, but all my characters suffer through things like that. I hate giving my characters a happy childhood; it takes away so much from the characters....

Sorry for the length! (By the way, the story title for it is Konoha's Guard) ^^u

ahhh, i really don't know what to say here.
but the fact that she's a naruto OC with a demon sealed inside is sort of a deal breaker. =/
i'm not too keen on naruto, but from when i was, i think naruto and gaara were the only ones with demons sealed inside.
amirite? wrong? D: *fail*
but yeah.
i'd say she's only borderline.
she's not quite a mary sue, she's still a good character with alot of potential, but she's not getting on the list.
but you can totally reapply if you edit her a bit. :3 or keep her the way she is if you're happy with her.

FaustXIIIYeah, you were right about Naruto and Gaara. I created a different form of demon, just to add to her unusual personality... I'm trying to tweak her as I go. (I hardly ever have time to work on that storyline just yet... evil AP courses.... ^^u)

I'll edit her a bit and resubmit someday soon. (If I remember)

TheEliteOCListahh, i see. :3
try roleplaying, it really helps to define a character and with getting a better grasp on their personality and how they react to things.
thus, a better, more well-rounded character. c:
and good luck with your AP courses. i know how you feel there. D:
*hates AP english*

FaustXIIII think I've figured it out. It'll sound pretty stupid at first... but it might just work.

Okay, so the idea is, instead of a demon, an experiment to create a perfect ninja. a ton of chakra -- and I mean a ton. The experiment failed, and the body for this being was destroyed, in thus, it became like an asto-projection -- a spirt if you will. It was too strong for the village to contain, so they needed a newborn (yeah, I know, it's a lot like Naruto himself... but it's way cooler), and the only choice was Amaya. And it took all of the kages to seal it away, but its strength leads to her occasional breakdowns and these moments where she cannot control her rage.

How does that sound?
