"Because your King has commanded it," Zira replied with a sneer.
Someday she would tell him what she'd done to earn this exile, but for now, all her son needed to know was that Simba was responsible. He was to blame for the hardships they would soon face.

We had to illustrate a book cover. Obviously I chose my favorite book, Children of Dune. I used some screencaps of James McAvoy in the miniseries for photo reference of Leto II. Even though in the actual book Leto is much younger than the miniseries depiction, I always kind of liked the older portrayal of him (mostly because James McAvoy really did an excellent job and managed to play Leto exactly how I imagined him despite the age difference).
All things Dune copyright Frank Herbert of course. The summary/reviews on the back are taken from my copy of the book (the Ace paperback, which I think is the only version they sell anymore).

I decided to do a poster for some form of generic Star Wars convention. And I guess I've just seen Trekkies too many times because the image of a cosplayer or elaborately costumed character getting fast food immediately jumped to mind.
I know I've done a spoof on McDonalds in the actual image and called it "Empire's" so the title may not seem to fit. The title is actually a reference to a hilarious little skit done by Brent Spiner (Lt. Commander Data...y'know, from that other sci-fi show I like...with the treks, instead of wars) called "Picard at McDonalds." Do a search for it online, or on Limewire or something...it's worth a listen. Brent Spiner does the most amazing Patrick Stewart impression the world has ever seen (err...heard rather).
Darth Vader and I agree on many things. The choice of onions is not one of them. Sith clearly have poor taste in food.
And for you non-Californian folk, the Pasadena Convention Center is a real place. They host a number of cons there every year. That tends to be my convention attendance location of choice because most of the local Creation cons (the ones I like to go to) end up there: [link]

There is a long a somewhat complicated story behind this image that is probably only truely funny to myself and ~arcfenrir but I promised him and myself that I'd draw this and upload it here, so I'll make an attempt to explain...
My favorite band, Simple Minds, wrote this very good song called Hypnotised. Now, they're a scottish band, and anytime you have singers with accents different from your own, it is sometimes hard to understand what they are saying. Usually I'm pretty good with scottish accents, but there was just one line in this song that for the life of me I could never figure out. I eventually did look it up and the lyrics go:
So tell me what you think
Do you think I'll sink Number one scapegoat?
I'm the missing link
But what I always heard them as was:
So tell me what you think
Do you think I'll sink? Number One spilled coke
On the missing link
And thus I have created the glorious image that pops into my mind every time I listen to that song.

This was one of them. Pretty bland and generic and sadly the most creative part, the quotation, is not mine. This was more of a practice doodle to get a feel for the character. And mostly because I just wanted an excuse to color shiney hair and gloves.
Edit: Just want to clarify, I did not misspell "edible." He actually does in fact say "eatable."]]>
