This is my version of a basic wings tutorial for the detailed artist (full-view please!). Note that for this tutorial I only describe a technique for setting up and detailing the individual feathers on a wing. This is a surprisingly easy technique that you can do with pencil or other dry/erasable media.

If you would like a guide on how to 'pose' a wing, please refer to other tutorials, like Lizkay's wing reference sheet.

(Tutorial v2.0 -- two extra frames and better commentary than the original first version. Pencil sketches arranged via GIMP.)

KFelidaeWhile I personally would say that the shoulder area is a bit too long, this is otherwise an excellent tutorial for anyone who wants to draw realistic birds' wings. Nice to see you posting it up in your section, Strata!
