Chapter 1 - A Day to Remember

It was a sunny day in Domino. A girl with long pink hair that had black tips and light eyes was walking along. Her name was Candice Pegasus, the adopted daught of Pegasus J. Crawford. And she was especially happy today because it was her birthday.

She couldn't wait to celebrate!

Candice got to the apartment of one of her friends, Kay, and knocked on the door.

Kay opened the door and stood there looking very pretty in a blue dress with a lot of crystal accessories.

"Candy? What brings you here."

"Oh, nothing. Wow Kay, you look very dressed up. Something special happening today?"

"Yes! You'll never believe it."

"I think I have a pretty good idea."

"Well, I'm gonna tell you anyway: I have a date with Seto!" she said excitedly.

"Oh, r-really?" Candice asked. Kay nodded.

"I asked him out yesturday and invited him out to a movie and dinner."

"So...that's all you have planned today? Nothing else?"

"No, why do you ask?"

"Oh, no reason."

"Ok, I gotta finsih getting ready."

"Yeah, ok. Talk to you later." Kay smiled and closed the door to her apartment.

Alright, so Kay didn't remember it was her birthday. No biggie.

Candice walked around some more and bought herself lunch in a cafe.

She did not see anyone she knew at their usual places. Nobody at the arcade, nobody at the restaurants. Man.

Soon, she saw a familiar face in the crowd.

"Valon!" she exclaimed happily, running over to him and hugging him.

"Wha-oh, hi Candy." He kissed her.

"Hey."

"You seem excited."

"Yeah. You know what today is, right?"

"Saturday?"

"Well, yeah. But it's a special someone's-" Valon's cell phone suddenly rang.

"Oh, hang on Candy." He answered. "Hello? ...yeah, I guess but...sure I can be there...now? ...ugh, fine....ok...bye." He hung up.

"What's wrong?"

"That was my boss. He needs me to come in today."

"Oh...ok."

"I'll talk to you later." He kissed her on the cheek and ran off. Candice sighed.

"Not even Valon remembered..."

She walked around aimlessly for the rest of the day, now very depressed.

It was dark by the time she got into her apartment.

She turned on the light.

"SURPRISE!"

Candice jumped back. Everyone was there and it was a cute little surprise party. Kay, Valon, Seto, Mokuba, Yugi, Joey, Anzu, Honda, Miho, Cat, Alister, Mai, Serenity, Pegasus, and Raphael were all there.

"You didn't think we actually forgot your birthday, did you?" Kay asked with a grin.

"B-but, didn't you have a date with Seto?" Candice asked, shock on her face. Seto raised an eyebrow at Kay and she blushed.

"Oh, I just made that up." ^///^'

Valon walked over to Candice and handed her a box, grinning.

"Didn't your boss call?"

"No, that was Kay. I was the one who helped organize this party."

"But...but..."

"Shh. Don't ask questions, Candy. Just open your present." she looked at the box in her hands and ripped it open.

Inside was a beautiful leather jacket engraved with her name.

"Valon! It's...it'd beautiful."

"I thought you'd like it."

"I love it." She leaned up and kissed him.

"Alright, love birds. Stop smooching, AND START DANCING!"

The music started and everyone began dancing and having fun. Candice smiled.

"Thanks guys." Kay winked and continued dancing.

"C'mon, Candy."

"You got it." Valon led her out and they partied untilt e sugar rushes wore off and then they all fell asleep.
