Light of a Dark Tunnel

As I approached the fork

in the road we call life

I see two tunnels side

by side

The one to the left is light,

as light as day

you could say,

but the other is sealed.

Sealed from life and light.

Now I heard of this pitch black path

and what it does to people that choose it.

It traps them, and they can never escape.

But those people are the ones that do not want to go further,

want to turn back.

All because they are scared, scared of the unknown.

But the people that it does let out,

like me,

did not choose this path for its rewards,

at least not the same as the light tunnel.

After all, the light tunnel has better rewards,

but at a terrible cost.

You will no longer be grateful,

and you will always feel empty, like something is missing.

So do what I did.

I swallowed my pride,

and I didn't show weakness.

Then I walked.

I walked right into the black tunnels mouth.

Now you are probably wondering:

“What if I get lost, or even scared?”

My answer to that is that you will not,

unless you let yourself.

For if you truthfully swallow your pride,

and do not show weakness,

your heart will shine.

That is the only light allowed in this tunnel.

So, once again,

swallow your pride,

do not show weakness

and enter the dark tunnel, for

your true heart will shine the way
