Chapter 11 - The bitter struggle Part 4

While Black Star was dealing Mosquito, Crona was busy dealing with the enigmatic Aku, who had just managed to force Mifune to withdraw from combat.[br]
“What makes you think you can have a chance against me?” Asked Aku, who was curious about his new opponent[br]
“It’s because I have too. My friends are doing all they can to stop you and I can’t let them fight alone” Crona replied[br]
“Heh, I see. Well if I still had any love for this world I think I would find that little sentiment heart warming” Aku chuckled[br]
Crona never answered back; instead she just raised her sword and prepared to fight. However Aku made no attempt at preparation, instead he just stood there waiting.[br]
“You going to fight?” the perplexed Crona asked[br]
Aku merely raised his hand in a “Come and get me” gesture, to which Crona responded to by swinging her sword at his head, but he blocked it with his sword.[br]
He’s fast Crona thought as she made another attempt to hit her opponent, but all she got was more the same, sword on sword rather then sword on skin.[br]
[br]
This little skirmish went to for a little while longer until Crona just backed away as it was clear she was not getting anywhere.[br]
“Giving up already?” Aku taunted[br]
“No. Just trying to think” Crona replied[br]
Aku just laughed “Trying to think? You must have a death wish. On a battlefield, if you stop and think. You die”[br]
Crona tensed up as Aku charged at her and was about to slam his sword on her head, but she managed to block it in time.[br]
Hrm? That attack should have killed her Aku thought to himself as he tried and side swipe approach but with still the same amount of force as his previous attack. But again Crona blocked it again.[br]
That’s not possible. Even if a person is able to block using their sword, this attack is meant to cut through it, and yet I’m not breaking through. What is her sword made of? But a more important question how does she know I’m going to hit her when she can’t see my movements? Aku thought again, now beginning to agitated[br]
[br]
As Aku continued to ponder how Crona was able to block, she herself took the initiative and struck back, nearly cutting Aku[br]
I never saw that attack coming he thought in horror. But his ordeal was not over as now Crona was swinging her blade in an unorthodox and also rather unpredictable fashion and that was giving Aku a hard time, as he tried to figure out where Crona was going to strike next.[br]
This is not possible. I can see her muscle movements but I can’t predict where she is going to attack from Aku thought as he tried desperately to dodge and block Crona’s oncoming attacks Now I get why she wanted to fight. She doesn’t have a singular attack pattern and it’s extremely random, and this makes her dangerous to me as I can’t read what she’ll do. But no matter, if I can’t see what she’ll do with my eyes then I’ll rely on pure instinct and hope that I can cut her open, but then again she’s relying on instinct as well so this will be a tough slog[br]
[br]
As Aku had predicted, Crona was a difficult opponent to deal with as no matter how many times he tried to hit her, she’d always block and then retaliate. But then Crona herself was experiencing the same problem with him as well. In the end the two were mimicking each other trying to tire the other out, but for either of them it was not going to be an easy win[br]
[br]
Watching the battle from afar looking with a pair of binoculars was the commander of the battle Sid Barett. He was watching from the Shibusen main camp, which had a fairly good view of the terrain and that was good for keeping a close eye on his allies as well as his enemies. He was not alone in the main camp; he was with Azusa who was busy radio people in about enemy positions and other such matters, trying to keep casualties to a minimum.[br]
“Azusa” Sid spoke out[br]
Azusa put down her radio earphones “Yes Sid?”[br]
“What do you think of the one who managed to beat Mifune? Can you read anything about him from his soul wavelength?” Questioned Sid[br]
“Well I’m not sure actually” Azusa sighed “He has some soul protection power on him so I’m having a hard time keeping track of his location so I can’t really tell you much, other then the fact that he is a force to be reckoned with”[br]
“Soul Protection? Like the magic the witches use?”[br]
“That’s what it looks from here. I think he knows some magic from witches, but how he managed to learn them is beyond me”[br]
“Agreed. Well in any case could you turn into your weapon form for a moment? I want to snipe him form here”[br]
Azusa agreed and transformed into her weapon form which was a cross between a crossbow and a musket with a rifle scoop attached[br]
Sid took hold of Azusa and then positioned himself in a good spot to pick off Aku once he let his guard down.[br]
[br]
Aku and Crona were still battling it out in a back and forth battle with neither one seemingly gaining any advantage. But that situation was about to change in a hurry.[br]
Crona had somehow, miraculously, got beyond Aku’s fierce defence and had managed to plant her sword into Aku’s heart, to which he reeled from the blow and almost slumped over on top of her.[br]
The two were exhausted and both were trying to gain their breaths back form this bizarre break in the fighting[br]
“Very impressive” Aku spoke out, coughing up blood as he spoke “You managed to get me, but your sword didn’t go in deep enough to kill me yet”[br]
Aku rasied his sword and was going to chop Crona’s head off, but she managed to push her sword even further into Aku’s body, till it eventually went through the other side. This forced Aku to drop his sword and he coughed up even more blood and was now slumped over then before.[br]
It’s over. I did it; I won Crona thought as a smile of creped onto her face. But the smile was short lived as she could hear Aku laughing despite that fact she had just stabbed him right through the heart[br]
“What’s so funny, your close to death and yet your laughing” Crona asked beginning to feel that something was not right[br]
“I have to admit. You’re good. Your unpredictable style thwarts my style of fighting all together” Aku replied coughing more blood then before[br]
“So what’s your point” Crona demanded[br]
“Well of a normal person this blow would kill them. But I’m not a normal person” Aku gloated[br]
Crona started to feel uneasy “Meaning”[br]
“You hit the wrong place to get my heart” Aku said now beginning stand up again “You see my heart is on the right”[br]
Crona gasped as Aku was now standing up again and was towering over her[br]
“Time to die” he said as he pulled out a Wakizashi blade from under his robes and proceed to send the blade straight into Crona’s throat and at the same time grabbed Crona’s arm so she wouldn’t get away[br]
Crona tried desperately to break free but it was all for not and her time was running.[br]
[br]
Overlooking the battle Sid was poised to fire the moment Aku lowered his guard and now was the perfect chance to shoot him as he was other wise occupied with trying to kill Crona. Sid took aim and targeted Aku’s head.[br]
From behind the mask Aku could see a gleam of light coming from somewhere reflecting from the sunlight. It didn’t take him long to realize that someone was about to snipe him so before he could finish of Crona,he let her go and then he jumped away as fast and as far as he could before the shot came.[br]
But it was too little too late as Sid fired his shot and had made contact with Aku’s temple[br]
The part of the mask that was hit shattered and Aku’s fell to the ground looking very lifeless[br]
Did we get him? Sid thought still keeping aim, just incase that shot failed[br]
Slowly but most defiantly surely, Aku slowly began to rise up back on his feet again and to Sid’s horror he only managed to shatter the top left half of Aku’s mask. But that wasn’t the only think that shocked him. From what he could see through is rifle scoop and to what part of the fact that was reveled from the broken mask, Sid resized that he knew the person’s face.[br]
“No, it’s not possible. He should be dead” he gasped as he trembled all over from fear and shock[br]
[br]
Aku face was not fully revealed but that part that was revealed, was already covered by hair that had managed to escape the mask’s hold on it and was now covering his now exposed left eye[br]
“So it looks like your still alive yourself? Sid Barett” Aku said out loud[br]
Although Aku was not able to see Sid clearly from where he was, but he knew it was him, he sensed it. “Well alive or not I think I’ve played this game for far, far too long now” he turned and faced Crona “Now I’ll finish you off, right here right now” he then picked up his sword and was about to attack Crona but something in the air forced him to stop.[br]
He turned to see where the disturbance he felt was coming from, and it was coming from within the Arachnophobia base.[br]
Azusa stirred still in here weapon form and gasped out the words “This wavelength! Don’t tell me that….”[br]
Sid sighed “We’ve failed”[br]
Aku then started to laugh maniacally, out of joy, or maybe even out of insanity, but one thing was for sure, his laugh was spine chilling “Well it looks like you lot have lost this little battle” he chuckled[br]
Crona was still unsure to what was going on as she was still trying to summarize what had just happened in this short amount of time. She asked “What makes you think we lost?”[br]
Aku was still laughing away to himself[br]
“Tel me what happened?” Crona demanded[br]
Aku looked back and her and said “The Kishin has finally awoken”[br]
