Chapter 23 - Witch party

News of Shinigami’s death and Oni’s massive victory against Shibusen spread quickly. One of the first to hear of the Death God’s death was his longest standing enemy; the witches.[br]
In one of the many witch towns, the news of Shinigami’s death was news that should be one to celebrate about.[br]
“Woohoo He’s dead! He’s finally dead!” Sang one of the witches in the town’s tavern “We should celebrate and party the night away”[br]
“I agree” “Yeah lets party” “Time for some fun” These words rang everywhere in the tavern as the witches cheered the end of their greatest enemy[br]
[br]
Nearly all the witches of the town had found their way into the tavern to party, all in a merry mood. But there were a few witches that didn’t feel like to party and they were slowly beginning to get annoyed of their sisters’ carefree behaviours.[br]
“About time that monster keeled over,” said a one witch holding her drink in the air[br]
“Yeah I know with him gone we can do whatever we want and not have to worry about anything” Replied the other witch who she was conversing with[br]
One witch in the corner overheard the small conversation and asked, “You two really think that now is the time to be so carefree about this whole situation?”[br]
The two witches looked over to the next table and replied to the solitary blue haired witch that was there and answered, “Well duh, of course. I mean Shinigami is dead, we have no more enemies and I’m sure if you ask every witch in this tavern or even in this town they would say the same thing”[br]
The blue haired witch shot out of her seat shouted, “Are all of you girls out of your mind?”[br]
[br]
The air in the tavern suddenly changed from the pleasant atmosphere to extreme silence as all the witches turned to the blue haired one.[br]
“Look at all of you!” Blue Witch exclaimed, “Have you all no idea that just because Shinigami is dead doesn’t mean that we’re any safer then before?”[br]
“Well no-one asked for your opinion you hag of a Witch” Huffed a young Witch in the tavern[br]
A huge gasp rippled throughout the tavern as everyone registered what the young witch said[br]
“What? Well it is the truth. This blue Witch can’t seem to understand that this is now out time and not the old… like she is”[br]
The blue haired witch was fuming “What did you say you little runt” she hissed, “You mind saying that one more time?”[br]
The young witch was about to insult reply but one of her friend next to her stopped and said “Don’t say another word to her, she’ll kill you”[br]
The insulting young witch then asked “Who is she then? You looked all scared of her like she was the devil”[br]
“You mean you don’t know? That’s Aisu the Witch of the Ice and one of Mabaa-sama’s great eight”[br]
The young insulting witch immediate went pale after hearing that and she stuttered “O-one of the Eight? Her?”[br]
“That’s right you little pipsqueak” Spat Aisu and if you had any brain cells you better shut your trap and listen to what I have to say” Then she turned to everyone else in the tavern “And that includes the rest of you as well”[br]

After Aisu established her authority in the tavern she decided to continue with her speech outburst from before[br]
“Yes Shinigami has been an enemy of the Witches for many centuries, but just because he is dead doesn’t mean we can just sit back and have a riot of a time. What you lot seem to fail to realise that the one who killed Shinigami may very well decide to go after us. If you remember your history, Kishin Asura, on his path in becoming the first Demon God, single handily eliminated all the witches of the East. How do we know that this Oni girl might not do the same now that she has removed Shinigami from the picture? Also Shibusen is not completely dead yet, they might go after us too. Not only that but if there are any surviving members of Shinigami’s Eight Powerful Warriors and word reaches them of his death we could also get in trouble by them”[br]
[br]
Silence gripped the tavern as Aisu’s words began to sink into the minds of the Witches present.[br]
“You forgetting one more enemy Lady Aisu” A witch who sat in a dark corner spoke out[br]
Asiu and the other witches turned to see who spoke[br]
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t Rosuto The Witch of the Lost” Identified Aisu “What brings you to neck of the world”[br]
Rosuto took a sip of her drink and then replied “Just passing through”[br]
“I see” Aisu nodded “So what did you mean by me forgetting about another enemy?”[br]
“You’re forgetting to mention the vast Lost Soul Army that Oni controls”[br]
Aisu laughed “Those things? They’re nothing compared to us witches, we can kill them easy”[br]
“DO NOT underestimate the power of the Lost Souls Aisu! Many a witch have seen their own demise at those mindless creatures”[br]
Aisu stopped laughing and listened to what Rosuto had to say[br]
“Now we all know the process of how a Lost Soul comes into being so I’ll skip that part. Now there are a huge variety of Losts and each have their own type of strength, but what you all need to realise that there could also be a Lost Soul above all others, one that Oni may not be able to control”[br]
“How’s that?” Aisu enquired[br]
“As you know from time to time Shinigami sealed souls into another dimension so that no one can get to them. Well it is from that process that a mega Lost Soul could be born, living in a dimension of souls all floating around aimless. These souls were kept in this other dimension by Shinigami, but with his death it could mean that this beast could be unleashed and everything in existence could be threatened.”[br]
“So to sum it all up” Aisu mused “Oni could be an enemy, Surviving Shibusen and Eight Warriors could be an enemy and now finally the possibility of a mega Lost Soul could be an enemy. We witches are seriously in a bad situation”[br]
[br]
Everyone sighed as they noted that despite Shinigami’s death, there were still things to worry about[br]
“What’s with all the long faces, just a few minutes ago I heard a party, now I here sad sighs” An elderly Witch spoke out as she entered the tavern[br]
Everyone gasped as they sway who walked in[br]
“Mabaa-sama” they all exclaimed in unison[br]
“Something wrong?”[br]
“No, no Mabaa-sama, were just surprised that you here” Asiu stuttered[br]
Everyone let Mabaa pass so she can reach the bar table where Aisu was sitting. Once she was there, she started to speak again.[br]
“Both Aisu and Rosuto are right. We mustn’t be careless and think that everything is all well and good with Shinigami dead. We must be on guard, and more importantly we must understand the intention of our Death God killer, Oni.”[br]
Everyone started to talk amongst each other to discuss what will be the next course of action.[br]
[br]
Then out of nowhere a black dust appeared at the centre of the tavern and take shape. Rosuto knew what it was instantly and got her magic at the ready[br]
“Stay behind me Mabaa-sama, it’s a Lost Soul that’s here” Rosuto respectively ordered[br]
Just as she realised, a Lost Soul appeared in the tavern and looked directly at Mabaa[br]
“You beast! Has your master sent you to kill mine?” Challenged Rosuto. Nothing happened. The Lost Soul stayed still holding out a letter with Mabaa addressed on it[br]
Rosuto took the letter cautiously and handed it to her leader “It came here to give you a letter”[br]
Mabaa accepted the letter and read it thoroughly[br]
[br]
[br]
After a minute Mabaa started to chuckle “Well it seems that Oni’s time with Arachne has not been a waste of time after all”[br]
“What is it Mabaa-sama?” Asked Aisu[br]
“Read this”[br]
Aisu respectably took the letter and read it[br]
[br]
To Mabaa Queen of witches[br]
[br]
I’m sure you know by now that Shinigami is finally dead. Now I’m sure that you’ll be holding a Witch Mass soon to discuss what you and you’re kind will do, now that Shinigami is gone. Well in my current position as Musou Megami, I ask that you have your next Witch Mass at Shibusen itself. I hope that you can find this suggestion agreeable. I look forward to hearing of your wise decision soon.[br]

From Oni[br]
[br]
“That little sneak” Aisu grumbled “She wants us to go to her so she can kill us all”[br]
“Perhaps” Mabaa mused “But it could also be a chance to align with her. I’m more inclined to accept her offer to have the next Witch Mass in Shibusen. You see if I decline, Oni could take that as a threat and kill us”[br]
“Hrm I see” Rosuto sighed, “So either we say no and die or we say yes and have a fifty, fifty chance of dying or living”[br]
[br]
Mabaa started to use her magic to erase the witting of the letter and replace it with her own writing. After a little moment the Witch Queen was done writing and handed the letter to the Lost Soul still present[br]
“Give that to your master” Mabaa ordered I” think she will be delighted with the reply.”[br]
The Lost Soul nodded as it took the letter and vanished just as quickly as it appeared.[br]
“Mabaa-sama what is your reply to the letter?” Asked Aisu[br]
Mabaa paused for a moment before she replied, “The next Witch Mass will be held in Shibusen”[br]
